On either side of the long table, some people had begun writing, some were still hesitating, and others stood rooted to the spot with worried faces.
Yu Jingfeng looked at everyone, his hand gripping the silk handkerchief tighter and tighter.
In the end, he didn’t write a single word. He turned and strode toward the main hall.
The guards stationed in front of the hall saw him and hurried forward to greet him.
“Lord Yu, are you—”
“I want to see the Prince,” Yu Jingfeng said softly.
“Has Lord Yu thought of a good idea?” the guard’s mouth curved up, feeling as though the sky had suddenly brightened.
He was afraid too—if no one could satisfy the Prince today, no one would have an easy time of it.
“I want to see the Prince. Go announce me, quickly,” Yu Jingfeng waved his hand.
“Yes.” The guard didn’t dare delay, turned, and walked into the main hall.
Soon, he returned to Yu Jingfeng.
“Lord Yu, please, go in!”
Given permission, Yu Jingfeng strode in on his long legs, walking into the hall.
Inside the hall, the man holding a book in his hand raised his eyes for a glance, then returned his gaze to the book.
“What is it?” Di Wu Ya tossed out the two words flatly.
“Your Highness.” Yu Jingfeng cupped his hands. “This subordinate has an important matter to report.”
“Speak.” Di Wu Ya didn’t even raise his head.
Yu Jingfeng withdrew his cupped hands and looked up at him.
“This subordinate has been thinking—if Your Highness wants to give Miss Jiu’er a wedding unmatched in this world, the matter shouldn’t be left to the ministers.”
“Does Your Highness realize that everyone outside the hall right now is a man? Men aren’t as thoughtful as women, so this subordinate thought…”
Yu Jingfeng raised an eyebrow, and seeing no objection from Di Wu Ya, cupped his hands again.
“This subordinate thinks it would be more suitable to consult the women of Tianji Hall.”
“Only women understand what women want, and moreover, they’ve been with Miss Jiu’er for a long time—they’re sure to know what Miss Jiu’er likes best.”
“Your Highness, do you think this subordinate’s idea is feasible?”
“Lord Yu.” The guard standing beside Yu Jingfeng cupped his hands.
Yu Jingfeng turned his head to look at him.
The guard cupped his hands again and said respectfully, “What His Highness means is that the matter must be kept secret—Miss Jiu’er mustn’t find out.”
“His Highness wants… to give Miss Jiu’er a surprise.”
Di Wu Ya’s low cough interrupted the two men’s conversation.
Yu Jingfeng and the guard both looked up at once, glancing toward the seat of honor.
The guard pressed his lips together, not daring to speak further.
But Yu Jingfeng’s eyes lit up. He raised both arms and cupped his hands: “Your Highness, I have an idea.”
Di Wu Ya raised his eyes, his brows twitching slightly.
“Your Highness, why don’t you go take a look at Tianji Hall? There’s still a lot of medicinal herbs there that need grinding.”
“Lord Yu, have you lost your mind! Are you asking His Highness to personally go grind medicine?” the guard frowned at Yu Jingfeng.
“That’s nothing,” Yu Jingfeng turned his head, meeting the guard’s gaze.
“Women all like it when men help out with things. Every time I go find Xue Piao, she has me help her.”
“That’s Miss Leng, not Miss Jiu’er,” the guard remained unconvinced.
Whatever medicine the Prince ground—who would even have the qualification to take it?
“Yu Jingfeng.” Di Wu Ya set down the book in his hand. “Go on.”
He leaned back lazily against the backrest, yet still made others feel immense pressure.
Yu Jingfeng looked up, coughed lightly, and said, “This subordinate was thinking, if Your Highness went to help Miss Jiu’er, then this subordinate could…”
“Approved.” Di Wu Ya flicked his sleeve and stood up.
Yu Jingfeng let out a small breath of relief and turned to follow as Di Wu Ya passed by.
“Actually, that medicine isn’t hard to grind at all—it’s quite simple.”
“Your Highness is so clever, surely you can grind it finer and better than this subordinate.”
