Chapter 1969: Feng Clan Arc: Witnessed by Heaven and Man

The women in front of the west wing chamber’s door saw the flustered Yu Jingfeng approaching and had no choice but to pull their attention away from His Highness.

“Yu Jingfeng, you’re something else! You actually dared to use even His Highness for this.” Xiao Yingtao gave Yu Jingfeng a thumbs up.

Yu Jingfeng grabbed her finger and pulled her into the chamber.

Everyone else turned to look at the visibly tense Yu Jingfeng.

“Xiao Yingtao, are you trying to get yourself killed?” Yu Jingfeng let go of Xiao Yingtao. “What do you mean, I ‘used’ His Highness?”

He turned his head, glanced outside past the crowd of women, took a deep breath, and looked away.

“If His Highness heard what you just said, I’d be done for.”

Yu Jingfeng looked up and met Feng Jiu’er’s gaze.

He coughed lightly, composed himself, and walked in with a faint smile.

“Miss Jiu’er, His Highness said he wanted to stretch his muscles a bit. This subordinate thought pushing the millstone would be good exercise—would you like to go take a look?”

Feng Jiu’er withdrew her hand from little Xiaojiang’s face, the corners of her mouth curving slightly.

“Yu Jingfeng, are you sure this isn’t just you being unable to complete your task and bringing His Highness along to put him through the trial with you?”

Yu Jingfeng’s eyes widened, and he waved both hands frantically. “How could this subordinate possibly do such a thing?”

“Miss Jiu’er, His Highness thinks this of me, Xiao Yingtao thinks this of me—you shouldn’t think it too.”

“You know very well that whatever task Xue Piao gives me, I’m always willing to complete it personally, no matter what.”

“But, Miss Jiu’er, could you trouble yourself to step outside for a moment? His Highness seems to be growing a bit impatient.”

“He said he came to stretch his muscles, but truthfully, he must be missing you—would you like to go out and see him?”

Yu Jingfeng gestured for her to go, his mouth curving up again.

Feng Jiu’er raised an eyebrow and stood. “Fine, I’ll go take a look.”

Once Feng Jiu’er left, Yu Jingfeng let out a huge sigh of relief.

He turned and walked a few steps out with Feng Jiu’er, and the moment she stepped out the door, he immediately closed it behind her.

When Yu Jingfeng turned back around, everyone was staring at him.

He looked at the group of women closing in on him and raised both hands to block them.

“Listen to me, this isn’t what you all think.”

Yu Jingfeng waved his hand, gesturing for everyone to head back inside.

Most of them were confused, but they still went along with him and turned back.

Yu Jingfeng sat down across from Qiao Mu, picked up a teacup, and poured himself some tea.

He drank the whole cup in one gulp, then looked up to meet everyone’s puzzled gazes.

“Here’s the thing—His Highness intends to propose to Miss Jiu’er, and they’ll be holding a wedding very soon.”

“His Highness wants to gather everyone’s opinions, hoping to give Miss Jiu’er a wedding unmatched in this world.”

“But the only people he can ask are men like me—we don’t understand these things, how could we possibly offer good ideas? Don’t you all agree?”

“Mm.” Qiao Mu nodded slightly. “It’s rare for His Highness to have such thoughtfulness. Jiu’er is truly fortunate.”

“That’s right.” Yu Jingfeng nodded without hesitation. “His Highness’s devotion to Miss Jiu’er is witnessed by heaven and man!”

He smiled faintly and continued, “I came here because I want everyone’s help—after all, you’ve all spent the most time with Miss Jiu’er.”

Yu Jingfeng looked up, glanced around the room, and let his gaze settle on Xiao Tian.

“Xiao Tian, get me brush, ink, paper, and inkstone ready. I want to write down every single one of your suggestions.”

Thankfully Xue Piao wasn’t around—she hadn’t seen his embarrassing moment just now.

“All right, I’ll go prepare them now.” Xiao Tian said with a smile.

Hearing that this was for Jiu’er’s lifelong happiness, everyone grew both serious and excited.

Soon, the chamber was filled with an endless stream of the women’s joyful, lively chatter.
