Feng Jiu’er instinctively turned her head and glanced at that tightly shut door.
“Most likely… still angry.”
But angry was angry. There was nothing she could do about it at the moment.
“I’m going to find somewhere to bathe and change clothes. I’ll need to go back and keep watch over him — if he wakes and doesn’t see me, he’ll probably be even angrier.”
She had not forgotten: just as Ninth Imperial Uncle was drifting off to sleep, he had issued one last cold command: “You are not permitted to leave the Prince’s Manor by so much as a single step!”
With those words said, and under the combined effect of the medicine and her massage, he had finally fallen into a deep sleep.
“The bedchamber next door has already been tidied and prepared. Miss Jiu’er may go there to bathe and change.” Yu Jingfeng said at once.
Jiu’er turned to leave, but after only two steps, she stopped and looked back at him, her expression peculiar.
“Is there something else, Miss Jiu’er?” Yu Jingfeng was thoroughly at her beck and call by now.
Understandably so — when His Highness was in one of his tempers, only Miss Jiu’er could pacify him.
Such an important person naturally deserved every respect and courtesy. If Miss Jiu’er could somehow stay on permanently, none of them would have to fear what His Highness’s outbursts would bring down on them anymore.
When His Highness flew into a rage, someone had to go in and bear the brunt of it. As things stood, Feng Jiu’er was clearly the most fitting candidate.
His miserable days had finally come to an end. He was genuinely moved. Sob, sob, sob…
“That… um…” Feng Jiu’er hesitated, but finally asked, “What exactly are the things Ninth Imperial Uncle mentioned — the things described in the book?”
She actually had a faint inkling already. It was just that she wasn’t sure whether she had guessed right.
But then, Ninth Imperial Uncle had lived for so many years, and yet he spoke of something “described in the book” as though he were a guileless young lad — which did seem rather strange.
What mattered most right now was this: she had agreed to do the “things in the book” with him. Heavens above, she felt she had stumbled into something enormous.
So she had to verify this now. She still clung to a tiny shred of hope.
“The things in the book…” Yu Jingfeng murmured the words to himself, and the next instant, his entire face flushed a vivid red.
“That, well… His Highness, he… toward you…”
“You haven’t done anything to me yet — but it was close!” Seeing his expression, Feng Jiu’er’s face fell completely.
Yu Jingfeng didn’t actually know what had transpired between them. Earlier, when he heard Miss Jiu’er scream, he had hurriedly retreated as far away as possible.
Later, when Miss Jiu’er came out and asked him to bring warm water, he learned that His Highness had been provoked into coughing up blood again.
All in all, tonight had been utterly chaotic.
“Our Prince… has never had any dealings with young ladies. He has never even set foot in a place of pleasure, so…”
Discussing such matters with a young woman was truly awkward — but she was His Highness’s person, and everything concerning His Highness ought to be made clear to her.
Yu Jingfeng drew a deep breath before continuing: “A few days ago, I sourced some books for His Highness to read — books specifically about… about matters between men and women.”
Feng Jiu’er’s heart sank all at once. She was well and truly in despair now.
What had she agreed to? She had actually agreed to do that kind of thing with Ninth Imperial Uncle!
And she had shamelessly nodded and said she was willing!
But… but she truly had not known that was what he meant! At the time, she had assumed he was asking about drawing blood.
He was already so gravely injured — of course she was willing to let him draw a little blood!
What was she to do now?
No one could treat the words of the Wargod Ninth Prince as a joke. He was a man who meant what he said, every time, without fail.
So her agreement was a real agreement. Would Ninth Imperial Uncle ever allow her to take it back?
Heavens help her! It was a misunderstanding — an absolute misunderstanding! If she went to explain now, would Ninth Imperial Uncle even be willing to listen?
