Chapter 147 — Bonus Final Chapter: Movie Emperor and Officer Ye’s Fantastic Meeting

Rong Qian eventually wrote a short, concise article about how she and Shen Yi had met, grown close, and fallen in love, and posted it on Weibo.

The kind of story that anyone reading it would think at most: “What a well-crafted piece of fiction.” Rong Qian hadn’t expected it to cause any stir — she was simply keeping a casual record of her everyday life with her Shen Yi.

But then a particular private message caught her attention.

The sender wrote: I know that you once traveled through time and space back to the past.

Rong Qian was shaken. She immediately told Shen Yi, who took her phone and began chatting with the stranger. Shen Yi asked: Who are you?

The reply came: My surname is Ye. I’m a police officer.

Rong Qian’s expression turned strange. The other person was also a police officer?

Shen Yi remained calm and continued: How do you know that I once traveled through time and space?

The officer surnamed Ye replied: Because I went through the same thing — though differently. I traveled forward to the future, while my wife traveled back to the past.

And so they arranged to meet in person.

Even as they were on their way to the meeting, Rong Qian was still wondering whether this was a setup.

Shen Yi shook his head. “The feeling I got from him — it wasn’t the kind someone gives when they’re deceiving.”

“Well, whether it’s real or not, we’ll know when we get there. If he dares try to trick a police officer, I’ll take him straight to a real police station!” Rong Qian rolled up her sleeve, looking every bit the force to be reckoned with.

Shen Yi gazed at her with a quiet, warm smile.

The meeting spot was a café. When Rong Qian arrived with Shen Yi, the officer surnamed Ye had not yet come. The two sat down and ordered their drinks.

Before long, a young man and woman of striking presence entered their field of view.

The man wore his hair slightly long, casually gathered in a small ponytail. He was tall and upright, carrying himself with authority and presence — in temperament, he was the complete opposite of Shen Yi. He was undeniably masculine in character, yet his face was remarkably handsome, the kind that was simultaneously strong and beautiful.

The woman’s bearing was cool and composed. There was a tranquility about her brow that suggested no event in the world, however staggering, could unsettle her. The first impression she gave was of a woman carved from ice — a cold, flawless beauty.

The man was holding the woman’s hand as they walked in. They approached naturally and sat down.

Rong Qian arched an eyebrow and studied the man. “You’re the officer surnamed Ye?”

“My surname is Ye — Ye Siheng.” Ye Siheng extended his hand toward Rong Qian.

Before Rong Qian could respond, Shen Yi reached forward and shook it first, the faintest curve on his lips. “Hello. My surname is Shen — Shen Yi.”

Ye Siheng gave a brief nod and withdrew his hand. Then he introduced the woman beside him: “This is my wife, Xi Anjin.”

Xi Anjin gave them a small nod in greeting.

Shen Yi offered a gentle smile and introduced Rong Qian in turn: “This is my partner. Her name is Rong Qian.”

“I know.” Ye Siheng was, as always, direct. “I’m sure you must be wondering whether what I’ve told you is true or false.”

“We’d very much like to hear more.” Shen Yi’s every word and gesture carried an easy, natural refinement.

The two men fell into conversation, leaving the two wives without a single opening to contribute. The pair exchanged a look. Rong Qian gave a helpless little smile and an innocent shrug.

The corner of Xi Anjin’s mouth curved upward. When a beauty smiles, it truly is a sight worth appreciating. Rong Qian paid her an honest compliment: “You’re absolutely stunning. What do you do for work?”

“I’m a doctor. And Officer Rong has quite a captivating presence.” Xi Anjin, who had never been particularly comfortable with strangers, had, under the influence of a certain Officer Ye, gradually learned how to make pleasant conversation with people she’d only just met.

Being called captivating made Rong Qian flutter with pleased embarrassment. “Oh, that’s very kind of you~”

At this first meeting, Dr. Xi found herself genuinely taken with Officer Rong. Perhaps, she reflected, it was partly because they shared a profession with the man she loved.

Meanwhile, Shen Yi had by now learned the full story from Ye Siheng. When Ye Siheng mentioned a name — Xi Yue — a dim recollection stirred in Shen Yi’s mind, and he said: “I’ve met Xi Yue.”

“You have? You met my father?” At the sound of that name, Xi Anjin’s composed expression finally shifted, the faintest flicker crossing her features.

Shen Yi nodded. “In 1988, when I returned to the country — during that period, we met. He was a narcotics officer, wasn’t he.”

Xi Anjin’s eyes reddened almost at once. She had grown up as an orphan. Back then, she had never imagined that one day she might travel back through time and see the parents she had never known.

Rong Qian offered her a word of comfort, and then, out of curiosity, asked: “When you met your father — did you tell him you were his daughter?”

“No.” Xi Anjin shook her head. But Rong Qian’s question made her curious in return: “Did you?”

“Of course I did — I called him ‘Dad’ right to his face! And I wouldn’t let him disbelieve it!” Rong Qian said it with absolute confidence.

Xi Anjin actually felt a pang of envy at that. But Rong Qian also understood her situation. “Well, our circumstances were completely different. My dad was alive and well, and he already knew about the time travel. You were different — at the time, you were still in your mother’s womb. There was no way for you to just come out and say it.”

This reasoning, somehow, made Xi Anjin feel a little better.

After that, the two women found they were getting along remarkably well, and quietly abandoned their husbands to go shopping together. Rong Qian slung her arm around Xi Anjin’s shoulder, and the two strolled off.

The brisk, effortlessly cool Rong Qian, draping her arm around the slender, serene, quietly elegant Xi Anjin, created a rather striking impression — as though the two of them were actually a couple.

The two abandoned husbands looked at each other. Then, without a word, both rose and followed.

A single shared glance was all it took — they both understood. Each man reached out and wrapped an arm around his own wife’s waist, forcibly prying the pair apart.

Rong Qian, Xi Anjin: “……”
