Chapter 53: My Boss Doesn’t Even Go Near Women, Where Would a Woman Come From?

Ever since the film he had starred in became a massive hit, Shen Yi’s fame had exploded—he became an overnight sensation.

For a time, the name Wei Long became known to everyone, from the streets to every household.

Fans first fell for the character he played, then fell for him, and described him using the phrase “a modest gentleman, gentle and warm as jade.”

With an Eastern face, Shen Yi had carved out a place for himself in Hollywood, America, through his own talent and ability. At the time, he was barely just past twenty.

He had once been invited to a film premiere event. The moment Shen Yi appeared in his sharp suit, refined and elegant, the media cameras automatically followed him.

It was as if he were simply born with this kind of magnetism that made it impossible to look away. Even if this man did nothing at all and merely sat in the audience, it still couldn’t stop people from repeatedly turning their heads to look at him.

The perfectly tailored, high-end custom suit showcased his physique flawlessly. Those long, straight, well-proportioned legs—even standing next to male models—lost nothing in comparison.

Beneath the suit, the white shirt occasionally revealed glimpses of a lean, powerful waist that had countless female fans practically drooling.

People always say some women are stunning beauties, but anyone who had seen Wei Long would dare to say that he was the one who truly deserved the term.

His every move seemed to carry a fatal allure. Even though his clothing was extremely conservative, it still gave off a sense of sensuality.

Unlike other people’s gentleness, Wei Long’s gentleness carried power.

Even if he said nothing at all, just smiling and quietly looking at you, he could make you throw down your defenses and surrender willingly.

As a rising star in the entertainment industry, Wei Long’s acting skills were truly deserving of recognition. The media called him a born actor, and predicted that given time, he would surely become a sensational Movie Emperor superstar across all of Asia.

But becoming famous overnight wasn’t without its downsides.

The first thing to be violated was his private life. Those obsessive female fans, dreaming sweet dreams of catching his eye, tried every possible way to appear before him, and their behavior grew increasingly extreme.

There was even a female fan who hid in the closet of his hotel room, holding a camera to secretly film him. Fortunately, Shen Yi had sharp powers of observation, and noticed something was off the moment he entered the room.

From then on, Shen Yi’s rooms were always fitted with black curtains, just to block out those cameras that seemed to find their way into every crack.

That night, it was already one in the morning, and Shen Yi was still working.

“Boss, it’s already very late. You should go to sleep earlier.” Xu Mo, beside him, couldn’t help but yawn.

Before meeting Shen Yi, Xu Mo had always thought of himself as a workaholic. It was only after getting to know Shen Yi that he realized he had overestimated himself.

“You go to sleep first.”

Shen Yi kept his head down, looking over documents. He casually picked up his coffee cup, and just as he was about to take a sip, found it was already empty.

Xu Mo, watching from beside him, sighed and said, “You haven’t slept yet, how can I sleep? You’re out of coffee again, aren’t you? I’ll make you some.”

Although he was Shen Yi’s manager, Xu Mo also doubled as his assistant—after all, a “work demon” always took on multiple roles at once.

“Never mind, get to bed early.” Shen Yi set down the contract and gave him a slight smile.

This had Xu Mo cheering inwardly, and he happily went back to his own hotel room to sleep.

Shen Yi shook his head with a faint laugh, tidied up the desk, changed into his pajamas, checked the doors and windows, and only then turned off the lights to sleep.

At four o’clock, Shen Yi heard a sound.

He had always been a light sleeper, so the moment he felt someone touch his hair, Shen Yi immediately opened his eyes and reacted instantly, seizing the other person.

Shen Yi had assumed it was another female fan breaking into his room in the dead of night, but upon hearing that muffled groan, he froze for a moment, then carefully asked to confirm, “A’Qian?”

The other person didn’t answer him.

But Shen Yi was already certain. He immediately, anxiously, let go—and Rong Qian, who had already passed out, began to fall. It was Shen Yi’s quick reflexes that caught her again.

“A’Qian?”

He held her by the shoulders and called her name several more times, but Rong Qian still didn’t respond.

Shen Yi’s brows furrowed deeply. Seeing that she had fainted, Shen Yi swiftly picked her up, laid her on his bed, and then went to turn on the light.

The moment the light came on, Shen Yi’s pupils suddenly contracted, and his heart twisted into a knot.

Shen Yi had imagined the scene of reuniting with Rong Qian many times—he had imagined there would be surprise, the unexpected, and the joy of a reunion after a long separation.

But the one thing he had never imagined was seeing Rong Qian like this, covered in injuries.

Shen Yi didn’t dare imagine what she must have gone through to end up in such a state—there were bruises on her face, traces of blood at the corners of her mouth, and her left hand looked as if it had been stepped on, turning purplish-blue…

The more carefully Shen Yi looked, the more his heart ached. Just what had happened to her?!

Xu Mo was sleeping soundly.

He was having a sweet dream, hugging a pillow, grinning foolishly in his sleep, even drooling a little.

Just then, a loud sound of a door bursting open rang out, and Xu Mo bolted upright from his bed in shock!

He was used to sleeping without much on, wearing only his underwear. Hearing the door open, he scrambled in a panic to wrap the blanket tightly around himself.

The room’s light was switched on. Seeing it was Shen Yi, Xu Mo let out a huge sigh of relief. He scratched at his messy hair and said, “Boss, what are you doing in the middle of the night? You scared me half to death.”

Shen Yi, brows knit tight, said to him, “I need you to do something. Go pick up Dr. Qiao and bring him here.”

This was the first time Xu Mo had ever seen him with such a grave expression. Startled, he asked while getting dressed, “Boss, is someone hurt? Or is something wrong with you? Is it your stomach, or your headaches acting up again?”

“It’s not me.”

“Not you? Then who is it?”

“Don’t ask so much, just go pick him up first. I’ve already called him.” Shen Yi didn’t allow him to ask further, and Xu Mo, completely bewildered, drove off from the hotel to go pick the man up.

Qiao Junche was a doctor at a private clinic, not very old—only a few years older than Shen Yi.

With his almond-shaped eyes, even in a white coat he didn’t look much like a doctor at all. His pretty-boy face made him look more like a playboy who frequented bars and flirted with women.

But Qiao Junche had a deep friendship with Shen Yi, and could be considered something like his personal physician.

So, upon receiving Shen Yi’s call, Qiao Junche had already prepared his medical kit early and was waiting outside the clinic for Xu Mo to arrive.

After Xu Mo picked him up and got him in the car, he asked curiously, “Dr. Qiao, tell me honestly—is something wrong with my boss’s health again?”

“Don’t you know better than I do whether something’s wrong with your boss’s health?” Qiao Junche shot him a suggestive look.

Xu Mo didn’t understand. “What’s that look supposed to mean?”

“Didn’t he find himself a woman?” Qiao Junche asked him.

Xu Mo was startled. “A woman? My boss is like some monk who’s renounced all worldly desires—he doesn’t go near women at all. Where would a woman come from?”

“I asked him whether the injured person was male or female, and he said female.” Qiao Junche told him truthfully.

Xu Mo was dumbfounded. Why would he even ask such a question—male or female? His boss’s preferences were perfectly normal, thank you very much!

No wait, that wasn’t the point!

The point was, how could there be a woman in the boss’s room at all? And an injured one, no less—sneaking a doctor in to treat her in the middle of the night.

This—no matter how you looked at it, something was very off, wasn’t it?
