Ye Fan gripped the blood-soaked leg, dodged the City of the Dead, and in the space of a single breath slipped clear of the law beams unleashed by two Great Sages โ like a dancer upon the tip of a blade, pirouetting lightly through the air and shooting away.
Blood poured like rain, staining half the sky crimson. Ye Fan struck his way clean through Liu Feng, punched his way out of the encirclement, and left the entire crowd staring in stunned, speechless disbelief.
“Is this real? Liu Feng โ that man of divine bearing and sacred bones โ has been defeated. His aura of invincibility has been shattered.”
“The Holy Body is too powerful. He actually defeated a Great Sage. This is simply beyond comprehension.”
“Like something out of mythology. A Saint King strikes against a Great Sage โ and succeeds. The Holy Body has seized the initiative. Truly unrivaled among all of the same realm, across heaven and earth.”
Liu Feng was a Great Sage โ even if newly ascended, his cultivation was what it was. Yet someone had split him nearly in half and left him missing much of his lower body, his assorted inner organs spilled out in a colorful mess across the ground.
No one could quite bring themselves to believe it. The shock was too immense.
This was a bloodbath.
Liu Feng had lost part of his body. He was covered in blood โ a harrowing sight โ crouching in place and letting out low, hoarse cries of agony. The physical pain was intense, but the spiritual torment was even greater.
He was a Great Sage โ born with sacred bones. To be split apart like this, to have nearly lost his life on the spot โ had Liu Mingde and the others not intervened in time, he likely would have fallen right there.
“Everyone, quick โ collect the sacred blood! This is blood that flowed from the body of a Great Sage. It can be used in medicine โ every drop is a fluid of the law. Opportunities like this are hard to come by.” Long Ma shouted, doing so purely to humiliate Liu Feng.
Liu Feng’s features twisted with barely suppressed agony as he turned his gaze this way, his eyes filled with boundless killing intent.
Nearby, Liu Mingde was beside himself with distress. This was the Liu Family’s most promising powerhouse โ their pillar for the future. If something truly irreversible happened to him, no amount of anything would ever make up for it.
“Little uncle โ are you all right?” The child with the venom-filled gaze had been frightened as well, crying out loudly.
Beside them, the two Great Sages wore complex, shifting expressions. Right in front of their eyes, Ye Fan had nearly crippled Liu Feng โ at a speed that defied all common sense. It was simply too fast.
“That is the Transposing Script โ a peerless sacred technique that touches upon the domain of time. Without it, there is no way he could have evaded this old man’s strike.” Wang Tianyu muttered to himself.
The ash-gray-haired, ash-gray-eyed elder’s expression grew hard and cold. The silver blood within him churned and rolled, gradually beginning to boil. A powerful aura slowly seeped outward, sending every cultivator in the ancient city trembling.
On the other side, Ye Fan stood suspended in the air โ still as a heavenly stele โ his expression composed. Only the leg dangling from his hand was a startling and grim sight, still dripping blood.
This was the leg of a Great Sage. In any setting whatsoever, such a thing would shake the world. And in this domain โ with no Great Emperor to be found, no quasi-Emperor in sight โ these figures stood at the very apex of combat power.
Thud!
Ye Fan refined away the killing energy from the flesh, then flicked his wrist and tossed it. The Ancient Golden Peng swept across the sky โ golden divine feathers fully spread, blazing radiance shooting in all directions โ and dove through the air, snatching the Great Sage’s leg mid-flight, then came to rest on a distant heavenly palace and began to tear at it and feed.
The crowd drew sharp, collective breaths โ one after another falling into stunned silence. What manner of act was this? To use a Great Sage’s leg to feed a fierce bird of prey โ it was something that beggared all belief!
“Youโ!” Liu Mingde was furious. To their clan, this was a humiliation beyond all measure. What did they think they were โ feed for wild animals and fierce birds?
Liu Feng could no longer maintain his composure. He had never once in all his days been like this. He threw his head back and howled at the sky, his hatred boiling over into something bordering on madness. He was a genius โ from birth he had been wrapped in a halo of divine light, revered by ten thousand eyes. And now he had suffered this kind of defeat.
In the human race’s final checkpoint, a column of killing energy surged like battle-smoke and then swept across the ten directions. Liu Feng was close to losing himself โ overwhelmed by the desire to slaughter โ ready to spend everything, to unleash forbidden arts, to cut down Ye Fan and all those beside him at any cost.
“You must not!” Liu Mingde stepped forward and grabbed him. “With several Great Sages present, why risk everything? We can kill him slowly in a moment.”
Liu Feng’s chest heaved violently, his breathing ragged and heavy. Only after a long while did he manage to calm himself, beginning to repair the damage to his body โ bones and flesh resonating with faint crackling sounds as a new leg slowly grew back into place.
Wang Tianyu and the silver-blooded Great Sage both remained cold and expressionless, not saying a single additional word. They locked their laws onto Ye Fan, ready at any moment to unleash a thunderous decisive strike.
“Since three Great Sages have come, why go through such a degrading process? Would it not be more efficient to come directly at us?” Ye Fan said, his gaze sweeping all directions in search of any other enemies hidden in the shadows.
Liu Feng was entirely unmoved, speaking with casual ease. “I do not want you to die a quick, clean death. The only way this is satisfying is to ensure you are first thoroughly condemned โ then I strike.”
“Who would believe these charges โ unless their mind was broken.” Long Ma fumed.
Liu Feng gave a cold, indifferent shake of his head โ the purple-gold crown at his brow trembling slightly. “The satisfaction lies precisely in turning the impossible into the possible. It is the challenge โ letting you die buried under these crimes, unable to overturn them. How wonderfully gratifying.”
“In your dreams!”
“In this murky world, nothing is truly impossible. With sufficient power, anything can be accomplished. I am going to make this filth stick to you โ and you will carry it to your graves, never washing yourselves clean.” Liu Feng said calmly.
“To hell with that โ who exactly do you think you are?” The Black Bear Sage was incensed.
“I am Liu Feng โ a Great Sage. I can handle you all however I please.” Liu Feng turned to face him with an unhurried, composed gaze.
Those casual words radiated a supreme arrogance that filled people with fury โ yet no one could deny it. This was a terrifying Great Sage, and an extremely difficult one to deal with.
Just then, yet another figure approached from the distance โ a middle-aged man in a Daoist robe, a large gourd strapped across his back, his gaze cold and still. He stopped some distance away.
This person was extremely powerful. There was something familiar about him to Ye Fan โ and after a moment he placed it. This cultivator bore a strong resemblance to Qi Tian, one of the human race’s Guardians of the Dao. This was almost certainly Qi Tian’s offspring.
Ye Fan’s heart sank. The implications were significant โ Qi Tian himself was very likely not far away.
Just as Pang Bo had said earlier โ today, every ghost and demon had surfaced. Everyone nursing a grievance had converged at once. This was meant to be a grand, final explosion โ every score connected to the human race’s Ancient Road settled at once.
Because they knew. They knew Ye Fan was about to leave this road โ and that once he did, there would be no further opportunity. His world from here onward would only grow broader and more vast.
Ye Fan had been silent for a long while, his gaze sweeping all ten directions. His Origin Heaven’s Eye opened wide, sending threads of golden light pouring into every corner of the human race’s final checkpoint โ until he had truly seen it all and formed a complete picture.
“I believe I have seen clearly enough. Since you have all come โ then let us begin. Who dares to fight me?” His voice was calm.
Everyone was taken aback. No one had expected that Ye Fan would be this bold โ openly issuing a challenge in the presence of several Great Sages.
A moment ago, his divine eyes had blazed with light as he surveyed all directions. Everyone had understood what he was doing โ but had not paid it much mind.
The ash-gray-haired, ash-gray-eyed foreign race Great Sage laughed coldly. “An ant trying to shake a great tree? Even as the human race’s Holy Body โ what do you think you can do against several Great Sages? You do not know when to quit.”
Liu Mingde sighed, then said: “I am genuinely reflecting on whether I truly went too far this time โ summoning so many Great Sages just to deal with you. It really was quite excessive.”
All three Great Sages advanced. Every one was terrifyingly overwhelming. Their combined pressure set the entire ancient city trembling โ as though three demonic gods had descended upon the earth.
Pang Bo, Ji Haoyue, and the others were all shaken. Three unconquerable powerhouses โ advancing together. For anyone at the Saint King level, this was an absolute death sentence.
Ye Fan did not say a word. He walked forward alone, gesturing for Ji Ziyue and the others to step back and observe.
Liu Feng smiled. With a wave of his hand, he motioned for Wang Tianyu and the ash-gray Great Sage to hold. “They say the Holy Body is something remarkable โ let me be the one to end his life today.”
Liu Mingde transmitted a message from behind โ sounding like an objection.
But Liu Feng’s expression remained perfectly at ease, entirely unconcerned. He gave a casual wave toward Ye Fan. “Let me see how many moves you can last against me.”
Ye Fan smiled too โ a wide, gleaming white smile, dazzlingly bright. “You are certain you want to face me alone?”
Those words landed like a slap, and Liu Feng’s expression instantly darkened. With his pride and supreme confidence โ a Great Sage before three hundred years of age, looking down upon the entire world โ how could those words possibly sit well?
Not to mention he had already intended to step forward. Even if he had entertained no such intention, those words alone would have made a one-on-one fight inevitable. Liu Feng’s expression turned cold and flat. “Make your move.”
“Boom!”
The next instant, Ye Fan transformed into a vast, boundless ocean of gold โ his unrivaled fist force erupting, lightning and thunder crackling, shaking the world to its foundations!
He was in front of Liu Feng in a blink. A tremendous crash rang out as the two met in a violent, catastrophic collision.
