In the distance — however many stars there were — they burst apart like gorgeous showers of brilliant fireworks, beautiful beyond measure. Yet they were also terrifying to the extreme.

Yet that brilliant splendor carried too great a price. Very quickly, this star region went dark. Upon the Star of Burying Emperors, torn into four, sounds of lamentation filled the air — cries of weeping echoed everywhere.

“Heh heh…” A cold, emotionless laugh drifted over. None of the countless hundreds of millions of living beings who had died registered in his mind in the slightest.

He regarded all living beings as insects. Whether mortal or cultivator, they were not even worth a single worm in his eyes. A single step upon them would trample them all into bloody pulp, killing them utterly.

And that indifferent smile of his — that expression of not caring in the least — chilled people all the more. This supreme being had been one of the greatest instigators of the dark upheavals. His hands were soaked in blood. Already in the past he had killed an uncountable number of living beings — figures that had to be measured in the hundreds of millions.

He was the Lord of Reincarnation, hailing from one of the seven great life’s forbidden zones — the Reincarnation Sea. A supremely exalted existence, clad in a battle robe of feather-transformed azure gold, it shimmered with the coldest of radiance.

The path he had walked was a mountain of corpses and a sea of blood, built from the bones of hundreds of millions of living beings. His heart was cold as a frost knife, harder than iron or stone. He could slay tens of millions of living beings without batting an eye.

The perfected sacred body roared in fury: “Beast! You too once took things one step at a time from a position of weakness before finally becoming a supreme being without equal. You regard them as weeds — but one day, someone will regard you as meat upon a chopping block!”

“You should focus on your battle with the Longevity Heavenly Venerable.” The Lord of Reincarnation’s expression was utterly indifferent. He opened his mouth and inhaled. From the life-ancient star torn into four, streams of life essence flew toward him, transforming into a great current that flowed entirely into his mouth.

This was too horrifying. That was hundreds of millions of living beings — all dead.

The Star of Burying Emperors had completely cracked apart. The five great continents — the Central Continent, the Northern Plain, the Western Desert, the Southern Ridge, and the Eastern Wasteland — had separated, now floating in the cosmos. Endless living beings cried out in anguish.

Looking closely, one could see that across the land, bodies lay strewn everywhere. Blood ran like rivers. Far too many people had died. The supreme being had taken only a single step, yet it had nearly wiped out an entire world.

Nearly all the great emperor arrays of ancient times had been taken away by the various sects during their migrations — carried off array platform by array platform. The remaining broken arrays had been destroyed during the upheaval when the road to immortality opened. This great star had lost its protection.

It was too devastating. Across the land, white-haired elders with bent, stooped bodies crawled through pools of blood, struggling to reach their children, crying out and shaking them — yet those young bodies would never come back to life.

“No… my child…!”

“My child, open your eyes quickly — wake up!”

“Waaah…”

The entire expanse of land had become a hellscape. Those who were young and vigorous, whose life essence was plentiful — many lay fallen in pools of blood, a thread of their most fundamental vital essence rising from their bodies.

A mother had fallen in a pool of blood, already gone. Beside her, an infant struggled to seek warmth. Then it began to wail, until finally it lost consciousness — tear-streaked face curled up in its mother’s embrace, stained with blood.

This was a scene of hell on earth — too heartbreaking for words.

“AHHH…” The perfected sacred body let out a furious roar. Abandoning the Longevity Heavenly Venerable before truly beginning their battle, he turned to lunge toward the Lord of Reincarnation.

“Can you alone stop five or six supreme beings? And will the master of the Immortal Mausoleum let you — his enemy — go?” The Lord of Reincarnation’s voice was cold and hollow. Having killed so many people, he was still this utterly composed. The azure-gold immortal robe upon his body began to radiate light — brilliant and dazzling, overawing all of the mortal world.

“Whoosh…” The Longevity Heavenly Venerable drew a long, deep breath. From upon the life-ancient ground of the Big Dipper, white mist flew forth from the bodies of tens of millions of beings already fallen in pools of blood, rushing toward him and entering through his mouth.

“I have endured this torment for so long. I am unwilling to die. Without seeing immortality — how can I be resigned?” The Longevity Heavenly Venerable said calmly, utterly unconcerned with what was happening before him.

“Good. Good. Good. For all your renown as a generation’s heavenly venerable — to sink to this. Then I will kill you first!” The perfected sacred body laughed in extreme fury. The golden fur across his entire body blazed with brilliance. Though an ill omen had befallen him and his appearance was ruined, there remained in him a spirit that could swallow mountains and rivers — a heroic magnificence that made people feel a towering grandeur.

He raised his fist and struck, exploding the most terrifying blood energy from his entire body, clashing bare-handed against the Longevity Sword in a decisive battle against the heavenly venerable of the age of myth!

“This is why your lifespan is nearly spent while I can endure. You do not know how to adapt.” The master of the Immortal Mausoleum said coldly.

“Such endurance — does it not fill you with shame?!” The perfected sacred body roared. He and the Longevity Heavenly Venerable soared upward together, leaving the Big Dipper far below, entering the vast sea of stars.

Boom! Heaven shattered and earth split. Within this lifeless star system, he fought without restraint, manifesting supreme techniques. He opened immediately with the Six Paths of Reincarnation Fist!

This was a peerless divine technique. Executed by a sacred body, it was ideally suited — blood energy as boundless as a vast ocean, combined with a physical body without equal in the world. Together, it was truly capable of reaching the absolute pinnacle of expression.

Who could say how many stars were shattered, ground to powder beneath this world-conquering strike?

Yet the Longevity Heavenly Venerable was terrible as well — extraordinarily so. To have survived from the age of myth until now, he had not relied solely on the “Ongoing” secret technique. It was also because he had achieved perfect mastery over creation itself, having attained Dao even back in the age of myth.

A sword stroke cleaved through eternity — like an immortal descending from beyond the heavens. Too resplendent. The Longevity Sword was sharp and blinding, illuminating all until eyes could not stay open. It was terrifying to the absolute extreme.

Across the heavens, one galaxy after another crumbled. Vast star regions went dark, turned to ash by the Longevity Sword!

An enormous sound rang out. The most dazzling light burst forth with that fist and that immortal sword as its center, spreading in every direction, sweeping across these heavens. Countless galaxies were destroyed. Endless great stars became fragments, ground to powder!

This was a star region with no inhabitants. Yet even so, such a tremendous shockwave shocked every corner of the universe. When ancient supreme beings battled, they could suppress the great Dao of an entire expanse of the world — and naturally, the mightiest cultivators could sense it.

“Is this a true emperor-level battle? It is too terrifying!”

“Throughout all of history — how many times has this occurred? To think that in this generation it would appear again!”

The whole world was shaken. The perfected sacred body clashing against the master of the Immortal Mausoleum — the impact was immense. The eight wildernesses of the universe all trembled.

That world-conquering fist showed a streak of blood. Blood splattered three thousand li. White bone was exposed through flesh. The Longevity Sword had carved a terrifying wound through the sacred body’s fist.

Yet the immortal sword itself let out a mournful wail, and dimmed considerably in that instant. Rebounding to great height, the master of the Immortal Mausoleum spat a mouthful of fresh blood and retreated several steps.

“You dishonor the title of heavenly venerable. In the past I could not kill you. Today I will take your life!” The perfected sacred body roared. Blood energy surged to the heavens. His golden hair flew loose and wild. His fist radiated light. The wound healed with swift speed.

That wound had been dealt by an imperial artifact, and yet he had healed it in the very first instant. It was truly world-shaking — a testament to what the sacred body lineage’s constitution was capable of.

“Young one, you still fall somewhat short. Though you are said to be able to match a great emperor, you have ultimately not yet attained Dao. This poor Dao cultivator is not without the power to slay you — take care.” The Longevity Heavenly Venerable said coldly.

“A person who cut himself down by one stroke and clings to life by periodically stripping the life essence of hundreds of millions of people — and you dare speak the words ‘great emperor’ to me? Today I will certainly slay you!” The perfected sacred body was fierce and unyielding — his spirit could swallow star rivers — possessed of a world-conquering bearing.

The two of them struck again, unleashing the most terrifying decisive battle!

The Big Dipper was dim and desolate beyond all measure. The five great continents floated apart. What had once been an ancient life-ground was unrecognizable, a sight too miserable to bear witness to.

Blood stained the entirety of this once-ancient land. Too many living beings had died.

“To move against the tide of the great current — can a single perfected sacred body truly obstruct six supreme beings? Such a one can only fall.” The Lord of Reincarnation’s voice was cold and hollow, a cruel expression emerging upon his face.

Though separated by untold hundreds of millions of li, he seemed capable of witnessing that great battle unfolding in the cosmic depths.

The other four supreme beings also acted — drawing upon the source of life. Upon the ancient star, now split into several continents, more and more living beings perished. Songs of mourning shook the world.

In the end, the several continents shattered further still. Only certain important locations were preserved, such as the seven great life’s forbidden zones — their dwelling places.

Beyond that, the Western Desert’s Mount Sumeru, though dimmed, still had Buddhist temples standing, never truly having collapsed. A mysterious vital energy lingered there as well — and so it too was preserved.

What remained were places such as the highly mysterious Fire Region, as well as certain ancestral grounds related to co-emperors and emperors — these were likewise preserved, not swept clean in the bloodbath.

“This generation is destined to witness the largest dark upheaval in all history. Ancient supreme beings emerging together to ‘feed’ — who can stop them?” The Lord of Reincarnation’s dense, long hair fell loose around him. His terrifying frame seemed capable of collapsing all of the myriad heavens. In this moment, the azure-gold battle robe upon him was brilliant and awe-inspiring beyond measure.

Hum!

Suddenly, the void trembled. The white-robed woman who had been in a trance-like state — seemingly bereft of divine consciousness and will — awakened. As if her heart had sensed something, she directly struck forward with a single palm, shattering the eternal blue heavens!

The Lord of Reincarnation felt his heart convulse. The void directly collapsed. A pale, lustrous palm shattered the laws of the great Dao, becoming the singular existence, pressing toward him like a seal — more terrifying even than the collapse of the universe.

He had not expected it. The master of the ancient wastelands, who had been silent all along, would actually strike — and would directly move to cleave him down. This was too forceful, with not the slightest warning.

The Lord of Reincarnation met her in battle. At this level, naturally he would not be afraid. Otherwise he would never have attained Dao — one who cannot reach this height cannot be called supreme!

This palm shook heaven and earth, directly causing infinite stars in the surrounding star regions to shatter into cosmic dust. Had the white-robed mistress of the ancient wastelands not raised her other hand to shield below, the shattered Star of Burying Emperors beneath would have had nothing remaining.

Spit!

The Lord of Reincarnation spat a great mouthful of blood and staggered backward. He nearly flew sideways off his feet. His expression underwent a complete change — his fury immense. Even the dense locks of hair falling around him were stained with his own blood.

The right palm of his hand had been protected by the immortal battle robe woven of feather-transformed azure gold. Yet upon the armor, at that location, five finger imprints had appeared — the palm and finger sections of the azure-gold battle robe were nearly shattered.

“You…”

The Lord of Reincarnation’s fury surged. Before he could say anything further, the white-robed woman of incomparable grace and bearing struck again with another palm, pressing directly downward, moving to cleave him down on the spot!

He rapidly elevated his battle power. Light blazed from his entire body, illuminating the entire star system. The aura of it shook the endless living beings of the primordial universe.
