The mistress of the ancient wastelands moved. This woman of slender and graceful figure actually struck simultaneously against several great supreme beings — entirely alone!
This was truly heart-shaking, defying all comprehension. These were genuine ancient supreme beings — each had once been a true great emperor, an ancient imperial emperor, or a heavenly venerable. Each had a background so staggering it could barely be fathomed. Who could defeat them? Who would dare face even one of them alone?
And yet such a scene had truly appeared. A slender, transcendently beautiful white-robed woman dared do this — the power of a soaring immortal launching in every direction, instantly striking toward five great supreme beings.
Boom!
In almost an instant, it was as though the cosmos had been annihilated. All things in heaven and earth withered away. No matter how distant, every living being felt a violent shudder — an irresistible impulse to kneel and prostrate before that shockwave, in reverence.
It was too terrifying. Several supreme beings acted, and the great Dao of heaven and earth was affected. Ten thousand Dao paths would be extinguished, leaving only these few as the supreme — causing the great cosmos itself to undergo some transformation.
Aside from the Lord of Reincarnation, the other four supreme beings also turned around. Their expressions were cold and indifferent. Their eyes were glacial and unyielding. All counterattacked!
They were a generation’s great emperors and ancient imperial emperors. They would not tolerate provocation. Even if this person was tremendously powerful, she had already struck against them — they would absolutely not endure it quietly.
“Kill!”
The Stone Emperor, master of the Deathless Mountain, let out one great roar. His blood energy was world-conquering. The black great halberd in his hand crushed the cosmos. The most terrifying great crevices and annihilating radiance erupted and burst outward, sweeping across the six directions and eight wastes.
The great halberd cleaved across the nine layers of heaven, causing an endless cascade of primordial chaos to pour down — a waterfall descending directly to strike at the face of the mistress of the ancient wastelands. Its ferocity was absolute, its might boundless. This was the Stone Emperor — a single casual strike that horrified the mortal world.
Clang!
A thread of immortal-soaring light burst from between the crystal fingers of the white-robed woman, blocking the gleaming halberd blade. Though the bone-piercing chill swept in — though the surrounding cosmic void cracked and shattered — her body did not move even slightly. Like a rock, utterly unmoved, she stood firm against what was like a surging ocean of tremendous waves.
“My Dao, once spoken, reverses heaven and earth!”
Another supreme being struck. Immortal brilliance erupted from their entire body. It was like cascading galaxies exploding — too magnificent. These lights coalesced into the highest immortal Dao laws, threatening to destroy the great cosmos. They gathered together and rang with a resounding clang — forming into a cage ten zhang in all directions, capable of suppressing ten thousand spirits and locking even a supreme being within.
A ten-zhang cage, constructed entirely of talismanic runes. Every talisman seal blazed with intense light, as though burning. Incomparably complex and profound — impossible to fathom. All flowed with the law force of the utmost power.
Ring, ring…
The mistress of the ancient wastelands flicked her fingers. Streams of sky-penetrating sword energy flew outward, transforming into a vast shower of radiant light — the power of a soaring immortal, world-conquering and undefeated!
All the radiance struck the cage, causing one enormous pillar of immortal gold after another to dim, unable to approach. The suppression of the ten-zhang cage was blocked.
“Three Realms of Reincarnation!”
The Lord of Reincarnation roared. He also charged in close. Three ancient cosmos revolved. The energy of the creation of heaven and earth permeated everything. One was the cosmos of the past. One was the cosmos of the present. One was the cosmos of the future. Laws ran through all time — past, present, and future!
This was true creation of heaven and earth. Primordial chaos surged. All manner of divine beings and demons howled within that chaos. A Vermilion Bird spread across the sky, burning and collapsing the South Heavenly Gate. A Roc spread its wings, shattering a billion li — terrifying to the extreme.
Yet the white-robed woman had first engaged him in battle. She stood facing him directly, her primary focus still upon him. Hence the moves she used against him were also the most forceful.
This time both her hands moved at once. With a light gesture, an ancient vessel appeared. Not a true physical object — but woven of interlocking Dao laws. Remarkably, it was a three-legged, two-eared round cauldron. No radiance. Only an ancient yet supreme Dao resonance.
Boom!
This cauldron woven of Dao runes flew outward, piercing through the three realms, striking within, where it shook violently — seeking to destroy those three realms utterly.
…
This was absolutely a battle to shake the ten thousand ages. One person against five great supreme beings — a scene that defied comprehension, that no one would believe if told.
There was no need to speak of whether the white-robed woman had any chance of prevailing. The sheer audacity alone was enough to shake the cosmos. Even if she were killed, struck down by the several ancient supreme beings, it would be no disgrace whatsoever.
To dare strike in such a manner, possessing such boldness, wielding such world-conquering might — this was extraordinarily rare from time immemorial. At the very least, no mortal had ever heard of such a thing.
As fellow supreme beings, if they truly restored themselves to the great emperor and imperial emperor level, elevating themselves — who among them could be said to be truly superior? All had been sovereign rulers of the cosmos in their day, lords of the nine heavens and ten earths, unmatched and supreme.
This battle erupted just this suddenly. The several great supreme beings all acted — though none yet employed their most powerful secret techniques, none had staked their lives. Even this level of probing was enough to be recorded in grand strokes upon the chronicles of the future — a magnificent chapter!
Perhaps the most terrifying emperor-level battles had occurred before. But ancient history had never recorded anyone facing five enemies alone like this. Such a figure — unprecedented, never again to appear.
“Let me look forward to it — let me see precisely how powerful you have become. Perhaps, by slaying you, there would be no need to launch a dark upheaval at all. You alone would be sufficient!”
The Stone Emperor’s voice was cold and stark. A bloodthirsty gleam flashed through his glacial eyes — too awe-inspiring.
All other supreme beings had acted. Yet each held something in reserve as well, carefully on guard. The white-robed woman daring to face them like this had certainly something to rely upon — though they could not believe anyone could be so overwhelmingly powerful.
As great emperors and ancient imperial emperors, they were firmly convinced that throughout all history there had never been anyone who could defeat five great emperors at once — not in the past, not now, not ever in the future.
For if they were restored, they themselves were the absolute pinnacle — unsurpassable.
Yet the white-robed woman was truly too forceful. Of incomparable grace and bearing, she faced five great emperors without the slightest loss of composure — seemingly without any awareness that she might be overmatched.
The emperor battle erupted — and rapidly escalated in temperature as each of them prepared to unleash their most powerful imperial Dao laws.
But in this moment, something sudden and abnormal occurred. The mistress of the ancient wastelands shuddered. A look of confusion crossed her face. Something had gone terribly wrong within her.
The several great supreme beings all started. The premonition from before had proven true after all. Her state was unstable — her primordial spirit erratic, sometimes present, sometimes absent. She bore a great inherent deficiency.
Though all were supreme beings of great magnanimity, the mistress of the ancient wastelands had struck first. Since battle had already begun, no one would relent. Especially the Lord of Reincarnation — who had already bled, with his immortal gold battle robe shattered in one section. In this moment he was even less inclined toward mercy. He advanced, moving in for the kill.
Boom!
Suddenly, the cosmos exploded. The body of the white-robed woman emitted endless and boundless radiance. Her divine power was world-overcoming — many times more terrifying than just before.
“What is this — why? I feel she is even more dangerous now. Her primordial spirit has suddenly approached near-nothingness. Yet her physical body has also become inexplicable. Can she truly protect herself in this state?”
The several great supreme beings’ expressions were cold and indifferent. They did not immediately attack. Something felt deeply strange. The white-robed woman before them was too mysterious. This state made them feel that something was off.
The mistress of the ancient wastelands became even more lost. She forgot to strike. She did not know where she was. Facing five great supreme beings, she seemed to have no reaction at all — her eyes vacant, her expression blank, knowing nothing.
Boom!
Yet a massive shockwave erupted from her body. Layer after layer of immortal radiance wound around her. Then it transformed into a great cocoon, its silken threads “burying” her within.
And as time passed, the cocoon became increasingly real — solidifying into a physical object. It was no longer light, but a tangible “immortal cocoon.”
“Even if she has lost her divine consciousness, to kill her in this state would be a victory without honor. But she brought this upon herself. I am willing to have my hands stained with an emperor’s blood!” The Lord of Reincarnation said coldly. He walked forward, determined to act.
The other four supreme beings wore cold and indifferent expressions. Without a word, they watched in silence, making no indication of their intentions.
Boom!
In this moment, the Lord of Reincarnation’s arm transformed into a great heavenly blade, hundreds of zhang in length. Flesh became blade — and it swelled outward, snow-bright and piercing, exuding a bone-chilling cold.
Crack!
He cleaved directly downward, striking straight at the immortal cocoon, seeking to split the mistress of the ancient wastelands in two and end her life — to harvest the inexhaustible vitality of a supreme great emperor’s blood and extend his own. The cosmic void was split apart by him, emitting a sound of terrifying resonance that made the very tip of every soul tremble.
The heavenly blade fell — landing squarely and solidly upon the immortal cocoon. Its radiance illuminated thirty-three layers of heaven, shaking all hearts.
The result was one that no one wished to witness. What blade could withstand such a strike? This was a supreme being’s all-out attack — enough to cause even the laws of the heavenly Dao to tremble beneath its pressure.
And the white-robed woman was completely without defense — inexplicably slumbering within the cocoon. By any ordinary reasoning, this should certainly have been death beyond any doubt.
Yet the ultimate result defied all expectation. That brilliant, snow-bright heavenly blade was overwhelming and awe-inspiring, yet when it fell upon the cocoon, it “melted.” The power of its immortal Dao laws was fully absorbed — becoming part of the cocoon.
“What?!” The Lord of Reincarnation was thunderstruck, feeling this was impossible. This had been his forceful strike — the boundless power of an ancient supreme being unleashed — yet it had been smelted away.
“Strange — is she borrowing our hands to assist in her own transformation?” A supreme being said in a cold and hollow voice.
Having reached this level, all were world-conquering figures. A single glance was sufficient to see through the principles governing all things — perceiving certain fundamental essences with sharpness. A quasi-emperor coming here would have had no way of understanding in an instant.
“She wishes for all five of us to simultaneously strike — to become fire beneath a furnace, helping her achieve success?”
“Perhaps not quite that. She certainly has some internal problem of her own. But this state can protect her. And if we act, we may end up completing her.”
They saw through directly to the essence, perceiving the truth through the obscuring mist.
The Lord of Reincarnation was naturally dissatisfied. With a cold snort, he unleashed the utmost in laws, attempting to smelt and refine — seeking to slowly boil the white-robed woman to death.
Yet the terrifying things continued to unfold. Just as before, all divine power and immortal Dao laws were absorbed inward — like mud entering the sea, dissolved away utterly without a trace.
What he unleashed was as though fire burning beneath a furnace — burning below the cauldron, helping the cocoon move toward maturity.
“We have no more time. We must replenish our life energy — we consumed far too much on the road to immortality. If we linger much longer, we will simply age and die here.”
A supreme being spoke, casting a glance at the Big Dipper star region. Opening their mouth, they inhaled. Life essence by the hundreds of millions — from those who had died not long before — transformed into streaming light and flew upward, devoured whole.
The other supreme beings did the same. Then they each set out, treading into the eight wildernesses of the cosmos, moving toward one ancient primordial domain after another to “feed” — the greatest dark upheaval in history was about to be launched.
The entire cosmos trembled. No one could stop this.
This great dark upheaval — unprecedented in history, surpassing all that had come before — had in the end arrived. It could not be stopped.
What a pity it was for the white-robed woman. At the critical moment, something had gone wrong within her. She sank into the cocoon. Otherwise, there would certainly have been a battle soaked in blood — perhaps she could have obstructed these supreme beings’ steps. Perhaps she would have fallen herself.
The upheaval of ten thousand ages arrived as destined, ultimately unable to be halted at the Big Dipper, and began to sweep through all the ancient primordial domains across every heaven…
