Chapter 46: The Golden Sea of Bitterness

In a single day, Ye Fan had consumed a full thirteen bottles of Hundred Herb Fluid. Adding the seven bottles from the previous two days, he had now consumed a total of twenty bottles. Aside from the surging Life Essence boiling through his blood vessels, he still felt no discomfort whatsoever.

Watching him drink like this, Pang Bo grew frightened and said, “Let’s stop for now. My heart is pounding, and my eyelids won’t stop twitching. I’m terrified you’ll suddenly explode with a bang and I’ll never see you againโ€ฆ”

“You jinx, what are you talking aboutโ€ฆ” At this point, Ye Fan carefully sensed the condition of his Sea of Bitterness and said, “I seem to have developed a strange feeling.”

“What? Does that mean it’s working?” Pang Bo immediately broke into a delighted expression and said, “I’ll go find Elder Wu Qingfeng to help guide you.”

Ye Fan stopped him and said, “Don’t go. I should sense it slowly on my own.”

Elder Wu Qingfeng had once said that someone with Ye Fan’s constitution could only rely on himself โ€” outsiders were completely unable to provide guidance. He had once said that if an ordinary person’s Wheel of Life was like a patch of soil, then Ye Fan’s Wheel of Life was like a divine iron. When a seed was planted in soil and carefully tended and cultivated, it would certainly take root and sprout, brimming with vibrant life. But divine iron โ€” no matter how much you invested in it, even if you planted an immortal root, it would struggle to grow. In such circumstances, only by undergoing a transformation from within the divine iron itself was there any hope of life being born. Otherwise, no matter how superior the external conditions provided, nothing could change.

Ye Fan had sensed a faint, strange feeling, and his heart was greatly stirred. His constitution had been called the Holy Body in the Desolate Ancient era, yet in the present it was treated as aๅบŸ body. He felt deep unwillingness in his heart. Now that he had detected this faint, peculiar sensation, he was naturally invigorated.

In this moment, Pang Bo’s eyes were nearly glazed over. Watching Ye Fan pour bottle after bottle down his throat as though drinking water, his heart leapt to his throat.

“I’m sayingโ€ฆ let’s slow down a bit. Looking at you like this, I’m genuinely trembling with fear. Can’t we drink the rest tomorrow? I’m really scaredโ€ฆ” By the time Pang Bo said this, a heap of empty jade bottles already littered the ground, and Ye Fan had already consumed forty bottles of Hundred Herb Fluid.

“No need to worry. I feel very well right now. The Life Essence boiling through my blood vessels has completely calmed down, while the location of the Wheel of Life has begun to pulse with violent fluctuations.”

After saying this, Ye Fan continued consuming the Hundred Herb Fluid, until the supply ahead ran completely dry. Excluding the seven bottles Pang Bo had drunk, the remaining fifty-nine bottles were all consumed by Ye Fan!

“How do you feel?” Pang Bo asked anxiously.

“I have finally sensed the existence of the Wheel of Life. The divine power spring within it is boilingโ€ฆ” Having said this, Ye Fan spoke no more. He began to silently circulate the mystical techniques recorded in the Scripture of the Dao, striking at the Sea of Bitterness.

Beside him, Pang Bo was somewhat dumbstruck, and muttered to himself, “The divine power spring within the Wheel of Life is boilingโ€ฆ why have I never had such a feeling?”

The thatched hut gradually grew quiet. Ye Fan sat cross-legged there, still as a stone statue, while Pang Bo kept watch at his side, anxious and uneasy.

No one knew how much time passed before the thatched hut suddenly blazed with radiance, erupting with waves of sound like roaring tsunamis. Boundless divine brilliance poured forth from where Ye Fan’s Sea of Bitterness resided โ€” a vast expanse of brilliant gold, accompanied by crackling lightning and rolling thunder.

Pang Bo stood there with his mouth agape, too stunned to speak, watching everything before him in a daze.

Within Ye Fan’s Sea of Bitterness, ten thousand streams of divine light shone gorgeous as a rainbow. Golden waves surged and crashed, accompanied by bolts of lightning and rolling thunder. A violent tsunami was occurring there, the waves crashing toward the heavens!

For such a miraculous scene to manifest within the Sea of Bitterness was something utterly unheard of. Pang Bo was stunned beyond measure. He felt everything before him was so utterly inconceivable, and muttered to himself, “What on earth is happeningโ€ฆ”

The sound of the tsunami within the thatched hut was deafening, like ten thousand soldiers and horses galloping. Pang Bo slapped himself hard across the face, confirming he was not dreaming.

“Waves crashing to the heavens, sound like rolling thunder, ten thousand layers of surging tideโ€ฆ” He felt his mouth dry and his tongue parched. All of this was like a dream โ€” the rumbling roar of the waves was like ten thousand soldiers and horses in full gallop. In this moment, it seemed he was not standing inside a thatched hut at all, but had arrived at the shore, facing a vast and undulating ocean.

Ye Fan remained perfectly still, sitting cross-legged there. Within his Sea of Bitterness, divine splendor bloomed magnificently. In this moment the roar of the waves continued without end, golden light flashed, lightning danced, and monstrous waves surged to the heavens.

“That golden oceanโ€ฆ could it truly be his Sea of Bitterness? Why would it project outward, visible even to an outsider?” Pang Bo was filled with astonishment and disbelief, staring blankly at Ye Fan. His Sea of Bitterness glowed brilliantly, divine radiance sparkling, waves rising one after another, endlessly churning.

He had now confirmed that the sound of the tsunami truly originated from Ye Fan’s Sea of Bitterness. This was truly jaw-dropping โ€” a Sea of Bitterness that was supposed to be hidden within the body was actually roaring like a true ocean.

Pang Bo stood there, nearly turned to stone. Before him came a continuous rumbling, and the golden waves looked as though they might come crashing out at any moment, giving one an overwhelming sense of pressure.

“Why is it golden?” After the shock of the tsunami sound had passed, it took Pang Bo a long while before he slowly calmed down.

If that golden ocean was truly Ye Fan’s Sea of Bitterness, it was far too extraordinary. Pang Bo found it inconceivable. He could now gaze inward at his own Sea of Bitterness โ€” it was utterly black as ink, looking deathly still. Elder Wu Qingfeng had once said that for a Sea of Bitterness that had not yet connected with the Wheel of Life, the vital life energy could only drift above the Sea of Bitterness. As for the Sea of Bitterness itself, it remained barren and desolate, without a single pulse of life โ€” appearing either dark green or pitch black.

Yet Ye Fan’s Sea of Bitterness was so extraordinarily different, nothing like what Elder Wu Qingfeng had described.

Boom, boom, boomโ€ฆ

Above the churning golden Sea of Bitterness, waves of lightning erupted at intervals, interweaving with the tsunami that reached the heavens, setting the world ablaze with intensity. Sea and sky merged as one โ€” everywhere blazed with brilliant golden light, strikingly dazzling.

Pang Bo watched nervously, afraid some accident might occur. Throughout this process, Ye Fan himself seemed to feel nothing at all, remaining perfectly still and silent, quietly circulating the mystical techniques recorded in the Scripture of the Dao.

A full several hours passed before the golden light slowly began to recede. The sound of the tsunami gradually faded, and after another half-hour, the thatched hut finally fell silent. Ye Fan’s Sea of Bitterness returned to calm, its radiance drawn inward, the roar of the waves disappearing.

Shortly after, Ye Fan came back to awareness. His eyes shimmered with brilliant divine light. The moment he stood up, his entire being suddenly became far more animated, imbued with an air of immortal grace.

“What just happened? How do you feel now?” Pang Bo asked eagerly.

“Just now I sensed the Wheel of Life, and even glimpsed the boiling divine power spring within it. After that, I struck at the Sea of Bitterness and actually saw a golden ocean โ€” I don’t know if it was an illusion.”

Hearing Ye Fan describe it this way, Pang Bo immediately gaped in shock, then nodded repeatedly and said, “It was not an illusion, becauseโ€ฆ I saw it too.”

“You saw it too?” Ye Fan’s expression shifted to one of surprise.

“That’s right. You have no idea what a magnificent scene that was just now โ€” waves crashing to the heavens, ten thousand streams of divine light, a stunning brilliance. The entire thatched hut was shaking. Fortunately the place we’re staying is quite secluded, otherwise this would certainly have caused a tremendous uproar.”

After carefully listening to Pang Bo recount everything, Ye Fan was at last convinced that the golden ocean and the tsunami he had witnessed were not the product of an illusion.

Pang Bo asked with concern, “How do you feel? I saw that golden Sea of Bitterness vanish entirely at the very end โ€” does that mean you didn’t succeed?”

“I’m not sure whether to call it a successโ€ฆ” At this point, Ye Fan circulated the mystical techniques from the Scripture of the Dao, and immediately an extremely tiny golden speck of light appeared at the location of his Sea of Bitterness โ€” no bigger than a sesame seed, and yet it radiated with brilliant splendor.

“Although the Sea of Bitterness is a little small, that’s not a problem. As long as you continue cultivating, it will slowly grow larger.” Pang Bo’s expression was one of intense excitement. “I dare say your Sea of Bitterness is absolutely extraordinary โ€” it’s actually golden, completely unlike those of ordinary people, and the light it radiates can even project outwardโ€ฆ”

Although he had only cultivated a “one-grain sea,” Ye Fan was very happy. He had finally broken through the deadlock and carved open his very own golden Sea of Bitterness.

“I keep feeling like that sesame-seed-sized Sea of Bitterness of yours has faint threads of divine power pulsing through it. Could it be that what’s concentrated is the essenceโ€ฆ?” Pang Bo’s expression turned to one of puzzled curiosity.
