The man’s throat moved slightly. “But I don’t have pajamas to wear.”

Yan Yunning closed her eyes, lay down, pulled the thin blanket over herself, and switched off the bedroom light.

Xuan Yanyu let out a long sigh.

Yan Yunning: “…?”

Half a minute later, Xuan Yanyu reached through the thin blanket and wrapped his arms around Yan Yunning’s waist, pressing his lips close to her ear and murmuring softly, “Ningning, I don’t feel well.”

Yan Yunning was startled and pretended she hadn’t heard him.

“Ningning, I don’t feel well.” The man repeated himself.

Yan Yunning gritted her teeth. “Esteemed Mr. Xuan, wherever are you feeling unwell now?”

She really wanted to knock him unconscious with a single slap right now — unfortunately, she didn’t have that ability.

The man tapped the tip of her nose and laughed softly. “Call me Baby, and I’ll tell you.”

Yan Yunning was mortified. For one thing, she didn’t particularly want to know.

For another — call him Baby? Those words actually came out of Xuan Yanyu’s mouth???

Had the alcohol driven him completely senseless???

“Ningning?” Xuan Yanyu propped himself up and hovered right in front of her face, gazing at her with a wronged, pitiful expression. “Why won’t you pay any attention to me?”

Seriously — who on earth was her brother tormenting here???

Xuan Yanyu pinched her chin with his fingertips and stared at her with displeasure. “I really don’t feel well. You’re supposed to ask me where.”

His breath, thick with the scent of alcohol, washed over her face. Yan Yunning stared back at his handsome features — far too close for comfort — and felt as if his intoxication were contagious, leaving her slightly light-headed herself.

“Baby, where does it hurt?” The young woman’s voice carried a playful lilt, her tone soft and silky.

Xuan Yanyu’s breathing faltered. His ink-dark eyes dimmed, and his large hand closed over Yan Yunning’s, his voice dropping to a husky murmur. “It hurts so much… and I really feel like I’m going to be sick.”

Yan Yunning’s heart lurched. She bolted upright — only to accidentally knock her forehead against Xuan Yanyu’s. Ignoring the pain, she quickly said, “Go to the bathroom. If you get sick in the bed, there’s no way we’ll be able to sleep tonight.”

The man stared at her through bleary, half-focused eyes and said, aggrieved, “You didn’t turn the light on. I can’t get to the bathroom. And you bumped my forehead, and you haven’t comforted me. I’m in pain and I’m upset.”

Yan Yunning raked a hand through her hair. Heavens — at this moment, she wanted nothing more than to pick a fight with her brother.

A few seconds later, Yan Yunning steadied herself and reached up to rub Xuan Yanyu’s forehead, coaxing him gently, “Baby, does it still hurt?”

The man gave a satisfied nod.

“Still feel like being sick?” Yan Yunning asked.

Xuan Yanyu furrowed his brows and muttered, “A little.”

Afraid he might suddenly be sick all over the bed, Yan Yunning turned on the light, rummaged through the wardrobe until she found a fresh set of little-bunny printed bed sheets, then picked up the tie that Xuan Yanyu had tossed onto the floor.

She folded the bed sheet neatly, closed her eyes, and draped it around Xuan Yanyu’s waist, then tied his tie back into place, making sure it was secure before speaking to him gently. “Go be sick in the bathroom on your own.”

The man was displeased. “You didn’t call me Baby.”

“…” Yan Yunning broke into a bright smile, her voice dripping with sweetness. “Baby, go be sick in the bathroom. Once you’re done, be a good boy and brush your teeth, okay?”

“Okay.” This time, Xuan Yanyu raised no objections, and obediently headed to the bathroom.

Yan Yunning exhaled with relief. Thinking it over carefully, she decided there probably couldn’t be any more drama — once he was done being sick, he’d have to rest.

Ten minutes later, Xuan Yanyu kicked off his slippers and lay down on his side next to Yan Yunning, his voice hoarse. “Ningning, I don’t feel well.”

Yan Yunning: “…!!!”

Having learned from the last time, Yan Yunning spoke up on her own. “Baby, where don’t you feel well now???”

The man touched his face and said in a muffled voice, “You didn’t put moisturizer on me. My face feels a bit dry. Very uncomfortable.”

Yan Yunning closed her eyes and had absolutely no desire to open them again.

Xuan Yanyu leaned closer, touching the tip of his nose to hers, looking pitiful and forlorn. “What am I supposed to do? Ningning.”

Gazing at the man’s drowsy, hazy, yet still devastatingly handsome face, Yan Yunning rubbed his head. “Wait here.”

She draped the thin blanket over Xuan Yanyu, walked to the vanity, and picked up a jar of the face cream she used daily. Then she came back and sat down at the edge of the bed, dipping her fingertips in and carefully applying it to his face.

“Xuan Xixi, your skin is so fair and smooth — do you have a whole skincare routine or something?”

Xuan Yanyu’s face immediately fell with displeasure.

“?” Yan Yunning raised an eyebrow. “What’s wrong now?”

The man turned his head away, whining under his breath. “You didn’t call me Baby.”

“…”

Yan Yunning set down the face cream, reached over to the headboard, unplugged her phone from its charger, and opened the video camera.

“Xuan Xixi, look at me.” Yan Yunning’s smile was anything but innocent.

“Baby.” Xuan Yanyu insisted.

“Fine.” Yan Yunning suppressed her laughter. “Baby, turn over. Look at me.”

The man slowly turned his head. The moment his eyes landed on the little bear phone case, he froze for a couple of seconds.

“Baby, do you still want the face cream or not?”

Xuan Yanyu reached up and touched his face at those words. “I think I’m okay without it.”

“Then can Baby be a good boy and go to sleep now?”

Xuan Yanyu hesitated briefly, then reached out and grabbed Yan Yunning’s wrist, pulling her into his arms. His gaze was still hazy and unfocused. “Ningning…”

“You don’t feel well again?” Yan Yunning rested her head on his arm and flipped the phone camera to face them, continuing to record.

“No.” The man held her tightly, his tone carrying a note of quiet seriousness. “Ningning, do you love me?”

Yan Yunning was at a loss for words. “Would I have agreed to marry you if I didn’t?”

Xuan Yanyu’s eyes were half-open, and he laughed softly, pressing a kiss to her cheek. “Ningning, why do you love me?”

“…” Yan Yunning teased him. “How about… I stop loving you???”

The man’s eyes flew open wide. Through the fog of alcohol, there was a fleeting moment of clarity. “Why would you stop loving me?”

“I…” Yan Yunning had barely gotten the word out when Xuan Yanyu sat up, looking both aggrieved and pitiful, and climbed out of bed. He muttered quietly, “You haven’t even given me a single piece of clothing. You really don’t love me.”

“I’m leaving. I won’t bother you anymore.”

Yan Yunning was afraid he might actually walk out looking the way he did, and was just about to coax him with a few words — when Xuan Yanyu turned back, his eyes rimmed red, his lips jutting out. “You’re not even going to ask me to stay? How can I possibly stay on my own? Say something to get me to stay — even just one sentence.”

Yan Yunning was laughing so hard her hand holding the phone was shaking uncontrollably.

When he sobered up and remembered this, he would probably laugh himself to death too.

Yan Yunning cleared her throat and played along. “Baby, it’s so late — you should stay. Leave tomorrow.”

“Oh, alright then. I’ll leave tomorrow.” The man graciously accepted the out and lay back down on the bed with perfect contentment.

“Can we actually sleep now?” Yan Yunning checked the time. Five-thirty.

They had been at this since one in the morning.

Xuan Yanyu blinked at his own reflection in Yan Yunning’s phone camera, and only then, with delayed awareness, pointed at the screen. “I have no clothes. What if someone sees?”

Yan Yunning laughed. “Of course you have something. Isn’t the bed sheet wrapped around you?”

Xuan Yanyu pouted. “But it doesn’t look good.”

Yan Yunning reassured him, “It looks great. Trust me.”
