Chapter 452: What Do You Mean “My Other Half” — Didn’t You Used to Call Him Yanyu-gege?

Xuan Yanyu’s eyes flickered with a vague, bewildered light. “Does it really look good?”

Yan Yunning stared at him, smiling. “Really.”

“Then let me put it on you — wear it and show me.” Before the last word had even left his lips, before Yan Yunning could stop him, Xuan Yanyu had already picked up the bed sheet.

Yan Yunning switched off her phone and decisively closed her eyes. “I’m sleepy.”

Xuan Yanyu shifted onto his side, his palm propped beneath his temple. Seeing that Yan Yunning was genuinely exhausted, he sensibly fell quiet.

Eleven-thirty in the morning.

Yan Yunning slowly opened her eyes. Seeing the sleeping man beside her, she picked up her phone and sent a message to Ye Jian, asking him to bring a set of Xuan Yanyu’s clothes to the villa on the west side of the city.

After a moment’s thought, she added a note: “A full change of clothes!!! Complete set!!!”

She then put her phone on silent, plugged it in to charge, rubbed her eyes, and sat up. Her gaze caught something on the floor — she caught a glimpse of the pajamas, and her mind went blank for a second.

Unless she was mistaken, hadn’t she changed into those very pajamas last night???

Yan Yunning snapped her head down to look at herself. A bed sheet, folded into a strapless style, was draped across her body, with a tie knotted at her waist. She glared at the culprit responsible, her fists clenching with fury.

She really had no one to blame but herself — who told her to say it looked good!!!

She took a steadying breath, got up, and went to the bathroom to wash up. She tossed the bed sheet aside and happened to glance in the full-length mirror — and then everything below her collarbones came into view. Yan Yunning’s vision went dark.

She truly hadn’t felt a single thing.

At around noon, Yan Yunning and Yan Yuren came downstairs one after another, as though they had synchronized their timing without even trying.

Yan Yunning spotted Lu Mumu and Yu Cheng, who both looked equally sleep-deprived, and the corner of her mouth twitched. So Xuan Yanyu hadn’t been the only difficult one last night.

“Ningning, go eat something quickly — don’t let yourself go hungry.” Yu Cheng spotted Yan Yunning curled up on the sofa and came over to remind her.

Yan Yunning stretched out lazily. “Okay.”

Lu Mumu smiled and handed Yan Yunning a glass of milk. “Didn’t sleep well last night? Have some milk first — good for protein and calcium.”

“Thank you, Sister-in-law.” Yan Yunning grinned and made a little heart gesture.

Yan Yuren gave a hum. “I won’t get into everything else, but if Wu Cheng gets drunk again, I’m throwing him out. He got sick everywhere — I nearly lost my mind.”

Yan Yunning sipped the milk Lu Mumu had given her and listened to the others vent. By comparison, she felt increasingly convinced that her Xuan Xixi was actually quite sweet.

After eating, Yan Yunning went to the villa entrance to collect the clothes Ye Jian had brought over, then thought for a moment and said, “Wait a little longer. Xuan Yanyu should be waking up soon — no point in you leaving and then having to come back for us.”

“Understood, Miss Yan.”

Ye Jian and Ye Chen both nodded.

“Mm.” Yan Yunning picked up the clothes and headed straight back to the bedroom.

In the room, Xuan Yanyu was still asleep. Yan Yunning set the clothes down carefully, went downstairs to ask the housekeeper for two bowls of hangover soup, then carried the tray to Yan Jinzhi’s room first.

After all, her other two brothers each had a wife to look after them — only he had no one.

“Knock knock.” Yan Yunning rapped on the door twice. Yan Jinzhi opened it with a toothbrush in his mouth and foam around his lips, and looked mildly surprised to see her. “Why are you here?”

“Here.” Yan Yunning held up the tray.

Yan Jinzhi raised an eyebrow. “That deserves a reward — you actually thought of your brother.”

Yan Yunning set the hangover soup on the table and beamed. “Someone has to — it’s not like you have a girlfriend to look after you. Everyone else has someone by their side. Finish brushing your teeth and drink it while it’s warm.”

Yan Jinzhi spat forcefully. “Yan Yunning, you’re delivering soup — why are you stabbing me in the heart while you’re at it?”

“Then I apologize, dear brother. I absolutely will not bring it up again next time.”

Yan Jinzhi flicked his wet hand at Yan Yunning’s face.

“Yan Jinzhi, next time I won’t bring you soup at all.” Yan Yunning laughed and dodged away from him.

Yan Jinzhi wiped the toothpaste foam from the corner of his mouth. “Alright, your other half drank far more than I did. Get that hangover soup over to him.”

“What do you mean ‘my other half’ — didn’t you used to call him Yanyu-gege?”

Yan Jinzhi glanced at her and said unhurriedly, “So I did. I wonder whose doing it was that bumped up my seniority?”

Yan Yunning blinked. “Whose was it?”

Yan Jinzhi downed the hangover soup in one go and swept a look at Yan Yunning from the corner of his eye. “Who else besides you, you fool, could’ve been talked into leaving in under half a month? Definitely you.”

Yan Yunning clicked her tongue. “I’m done talking to you.”

“Hold on.”

“Hm?” Yan Yunning turned back to look at him.

Yan Jinzhi placed the empty bowl on the tray, then tapped Yan Yunning’s forehead lightly with his elegant fingers. “Go on then.”

Yan Yunning: “…”

She walked out of Yan Jinzhi’s room, turned the corner, and arrived at her own. She pushed open the door. Xuan Yanyu, stirred by the sound, slowly opened his eyes.

Yan Yunning arched a brow, a small smile playing on her lips. “Baby, do you want to get up and have some hangover soup?”

The man’s hand, which had been massaging his temple, paused.

Yan Yunning watched his reaction curiously. “Baby, still not fully awake?”

Xuan Yanyu’s throat moved. He beckoned to her. “Come here.”

Yan Yunning pursed her lips. This was nowhere near as fun as last night.

She set down the tray and padded over, throwing herself into his arms.

The man narrowed his eyes, his large hand hooking idly around the ends of her hair and curling them around his fingers. “What did you just call me?”

Yan Yunning looped her arms around his neck and smiled lazily. “Baby~”

The young woman’s voice had a soft, trailing lilt to it. The sound of it made Xuan Yanyu’s breath catch. He licked his lips, amusement rippling through his chest. “Baby?”

Yan Yunning pulled away from him, disconnected the charger, and opened her phone’s photo album. She had intended to show Xuan Yanyu the video she had filmed last night — but instead, she found a whole gallery of photos and videos of herself wearing the bed sheet as a strapless top!!!

Yan Yunning opened one of the videos. On screen, she was sleeping soundly. Off screen, Xuan Yanyu was murmuring softly, “So good, didn’t lie to me at all — it really does look good.”

“A reward for you.” The phone appeared to have been tossed onto the bed, because the footage then showed nothing but the ceiling.

Yan Yunning thought back to the marks she had seen when she woke up, and in that moment, the answer seemed to present itself.

A moment later, Xuan Yanyu’s voice picked up again on screen. “Didn’t push me away — such a good girl. Deserve another reward.”

Yan Yunning pressed her hand to her forehead and shot a sidelong glance at the man beside her.

She had been asleep. She could hardly take credit for being good.

“Ahem, ahem.” Xuan Yanyu shifted uncomfortably and scratched his nose.

Yan Yunning swiped to the next video. On screen, Xuan Yanyu pressed a kiss to Yan Yunning’s cheek, his brow furrowing slightly. “Why aren’t you responding?”

“If you won’t respond, how am I supposed to give you your reward?”

“Oh well. Given how good you’re being, you deserve one anyway.”

Yan Yunning: “…”

A reward for whom, exactly???

Who was rewarding whom here???

“Darling, call me Baby.” On screen, Xuan Yanyu very carefully poked at Yan Yunning’s long lashes.

The Yan Yunning on screen fluttered her lashes, startling Xuan Yanyu so badly he snatched his hand back — but when he saw she hadn’t opened her eyes, his nerve returned.

He pinched her ear. He traced the tip of her nose. And so on.

Yan Yunning was mortified. Xuan Yanyu had been up to all of that while she slept through every second of it — she must have truly been exhausted beyond measure.
