Chapter 118: One of These Days, He Might Even Have His Trousers Off

“All that is needed is for Miss Jiu’er to come regularly and coax His Highness to sleep.”

As for curing His Highness of his Gu Poison and the like — Yu Jingfeng had not taken her words to heart at all.

This particular Gu could only be cured by returning to the Southern Tribes. But for nearly two years now, foreign enemies had been encroaching relentlessly, and His Highness could be called back to the battlefield at any moment.

The Gu Poison in His Highness’s body would still need another solution to be found.

As for this girl — Yu Jingfeng did not distrust her exactly, but she was so young. What could she possibly accomplish?

Even the most renowned physicians had temporarily found themselves at a loss, so naturally Yu Jingfeng would not place any expectations on Feng Jiu’er.

“Miss Jiu’er, after you.”

Feng Jiu’er departed from Qingfeng Courtyard. She had originally intended to return to her own quarters, but halfway there she changed her mind, turning in another direction entirely.

Yu Jingfeng’s words tonight had given her a clear picture of the tense political landscape among the nations of this era.

Every year, among the incoming new students, there were bound to be spies from various countries. But with so many people, how on earth could they ever be rooted out?

If spies existed among the new students, then perhaps — perhaps even among the Longqi Fourth Unit there were some. Maybe even within their own Squad Four-Two?

Mu Mu? Xing Zizhou? Shan Yidao? Or Xiao Yingtao?

Jiu’er rubbed her temples. Yu Jingfeng’s words had left her nerves rather frayed.

Yes, there were spies — but they were ultimately few in number. Where would there be so many? Tonight, everyone had fought as one against their enemies. How could any of those few people be a spy?

She arrived at the door of one of the chambers and knocked. Someone came to open it quickly — it was Xiao Yingtao.

“You’re still here.” Feng Jiu’er peered inside.

Each chamber housed three people. The rooms were plain and simple, resembling dormitories in the modern sense — three beds side by side, and beyond that, only a few tables and stools, along with three wardrobes.

Xiao Yingtao had brought snacks, though only Xing Zizhou and Shan Yidao were eating. Mu Mu was leaning against the headboard, reading a military text.

Upon seeing Feng Jiu’er, Mu Mu gave a slight nod. “Come in and sit.”

“I came to look at your wound.” Feng Jiu’er stepped inside. Xiao Yingtao, of her own accord, brought over a chair and placed it beside the bed.

Shan Yidao offered her some snacks, which Jiu’er declined.

These five had only been in each other’s company for barely half a day, yet it felt as though they had known one another for a long time.

People who had endured hardship and faced death together were simply different — and in the military, bonds forged through life and death came more naturally than anywhere else.

If there truly were spies among the new students, Feng Jiu’er could only hope that none of them were among this group.

She sat down by the bed. Mu Mu had already undone his garment of his own accord, allowing her to examine the wound on his arm.

Xiao Yingtao, upon catching sight of his exposed chest, turned scarlet, quickly averted her gaze — wanting to look but not daring to.

“In the military, scenes like this are perfectly normal. One of these days you might even find them with their trousers off.”

A man taking off a garment was really nothing to look away from — let alone for someone who had studied medicine. At her age, aside from never having personally laid eyes on the… ahem, indescribable parts of a man, what hadn’t she seen or handled?

Though back then she hadn’t even finished university yet — she had still been in her internship, so her hands-on experience had been rather limited.

If she had truly gone on to carry out major medical procedures, it wouldn’t have been impossible to examine even the internal structures of the body, let alone anything else.

For her, it really wasn’t a big deal. But unexpectedly, Jiu’er’s words left not only Xiao Yingtao red-faced — even Shan Yidao and Xing Zizhou stared at her blankly, the snacks in their hands forgotten, halfway to their mouths.
