Extra Chapter 3: Sweet Married Life

(1)

Ever since Wu Mangmang officially moved into the Lu mansion as Mrs. Lu, Lu Lin had become a regular visitor. Previously, she never visited without a specific purpose, clearly showing her disdain for her brother Lu Sui.

But now things were different—the lady of the house always managed to warm up the solemn manor.

“Is Lu Sui here?” Lu Lin asked old Peter as soon as she entered.

“The master is in the study,” old Peter replied.

“What about Mangmang?” Lu Lin asked again.

“The mistress is resting,” old Peter said.

Lu Lin went straight upstairs to Wu Mangmang’s bedroom, though Wu Mangmang hadn’t slept in her own bedroom for a long time—getting Mr. Lu to agree to separate beds would be like asking for the moon.

Not finding Wu Mangmang in the mistress’s bedroom, Lu Lin pushed open Lu Sui’s room and found Wu Mangmang on the bed.

She was taking an afternoon nap, sleeping very sweetly with half her face buried in the blanket. The warmth had made her skin glow pink and white, radiant and lovely.

Lu Lin climbed onto the bed, initially wanting to wake Wu Mangmang, but when she looked down at her long, curled eyelashes, she couldn’t bear to.

A faint fruity fragrance emanated from her breath, the warm scent intoxicating like spring air. Lu Lin lowered her head and tickled Wu Mangmang’s cheek. Wu Mangmang complained with a few mumbles, turned her head to bury her face in the pillow, exposing a stretch of her pale neck.

“Lu Sui, stop fooling around.”

Lu Lin immediately laughed out loud. Wu Mangmang heard the laughter and suddenly opened her eyes, “Sister Lu Lin!”

“It’s already four o’clock and you’re still catching up on sleep. Looks like Lu Sui’s been quite diligent with his plowing at night,” Lu Lin leaned over to look into Wu Mangmang’s eyes with a smile.

Wu Mangmang didn’t want to discuss her and Lu Sui’s bedroom affairs with Lu Lin, so she smiled and rolled to the side, “No way, Lu Sui is very proper.”

This was obviously lying through her teeth—Lu Lin wouldn’t believe it, “Oh, let me check.” Lu Lin reached out to pull Wu Mangmang’s nightgown.

“Check what?” Wu Mangmang quickly wrapped her nightgown tighter.

Lu Lin put on a deliberately lecherous smile, “You know very well what.”

Lu Lin pressed forward to try to pull open Wu Mangmang’s nightgown. Wu Mangmang naturally resisted with all her might. The two had just been laughing and playing for a moment when, without hearing the door open, they saw Lu Sui push the door in, “What are you two doing?!”

Lu Lin was like a pig unafraid of boiling water. Hearing Lu Sui’s voice, she just casually turned and leaned back against the bed, “What do you think we’re doing?”

“Get out. Don’t make me throw you out,” Lu Sui said with a dark face.

Lu Lin glared at Lu Sui for a second, but ultimately didn’t dare provoke the tiger. She got off the bed and left in her three-inch heels.

Only Wu Mangmang was left in the room, looking at Lu Sui fearfully, “I swear, I tried my best to defend my chastity.”

Lu Sui tilted his head slightly to look at the fresh strawberry mark on Wu Mangmang’s neck.

Seeing Lu Sui’s expression was wrong, Wu Mangmang realized she’d been played by Lu Lin. That sister really loved stirring up trouble.

“I didn’t know. I was sleeping groggily and thought it was you,” Wu Mangmang immediately started playing pitiful.

“Hehe,” Lu Sui only replied with two words to Wu Mangmang.

After Lu Lin left, she sat in the living room waiting for the master and mistress upstairs to come down, but she finished her afternoon tea and still didn’t see them come downstairs—clearly they were doing something inappropriate.

Lu Lin could only return home and called Wu Mangmang that evening, “Are you okay? This afternoon?”

Wu Mangmang was lying lazily on the bed, saying weakly, “I’m fine.”

But how could she be fine? It was a big problem—Mr. Lu was an incredibly jealous person.

When Lu Lin next visited the Lu mansion and tried to repeat her trick, she found that both Lu Sui and Wu Mangmang’s bedroom doors had fingerprint locks installed.

Lu Lin snorted coldly at Lu Sui, “Is this really necessary? Installing fingerprint locks on your own bedroom? There’s no logic in guarding against thieves for a lifetime. Do you think this can really keep people out?”

“I just don’t like idle people entering my bedroom,” Lu Sui said coldly.

Lu Lin pursed her lips. This person was clearly jealous but still being stubborn.

(2)

This day, Lu Qingqing sent Wu Mangmang a video. She had recently started dating a fitness trainer boyfriend and often shared fitness tips and links.

When the video opened, it showed Lu Qingqing’s extremely muscular boyfriend shirtless doing wave-form push-ups.

Wu Mangmang’s thought process was: Wow~ so impressive and sexy! Lu Qingqing is so lucky!

After watching, Wu Mangmang replied to Lu Qingqing: Your boyfriend’s core strength is really impressive. You’re so blessed.

“This move is called the ‘dog waist.’ Impressive, right?” Lu Qingqing boasted proudly in the group chat. “Can any of your boyfriends do this?”

A bunch of people below were shouting about making their boyfriends try it. Wu Mangmang hadn’t had time to respond when she heard Annie knocking to bring her bird’s nest soup.

Wu Mangmang used to not eat this stuff, but ever since marrying Lu Sui, she had a feeling that time was unforgiving. Plus, with Ms. Liu constantly educating her about beauty knowledge and seeing Ms. Liu’s eternally youthful face, Wu Mangmang adopted a “better safe than sorry” attitude and started eating it.

“Come in,” Wu Mangmang responded, threw her phone on the bed, and went to the sofa to eat. Just then, Lu Sui came out of the shower, and Wu Mangmang didn’t think about her phone.

When Lu Sui lay on the bed, Wu Mangmang’s phone poked him. He reached out and grabbed it, casually glancing at it and seeing the video with all the women’s replies below.

Lu Sui moved his finger and pulled up Wu Mangmang’s comment.

Seeing Lu Sui touching her phone, Wu Mangmang put down her stewing cup and pounced over to snatch her phone back, “What are you doing looking at my phone? Privacy, do you understand privacy?”

Lu Sui glanced sideways at Wu Mangmang and mocked, “Envious, jealous, and hateful?”

This was quoting what Wu Mangmang had just said.

“Drooling, hmm?”

Wu Mangmang felt her face burning hot, “No! When you see this kind of showing off, it’s customary to like it and say you’re envious, jealous, and hateful. It’s just small talk, not serious.”

“You women just love this flashy, useless stuff,” Lu Sui commented, then turned over to sleep, ignoring Wu Mangmang.

“Yes, yes, yes, it just looked quite sexy,” Wu Mangmang absolutely wouldn’t want to hurt Mr. Lu’s confidence. An older man shouldn’t compare himself to Lu Qingqing’s athletic young meat.

“In the future, spend less time with Lu Qingqing and her crowd. What kind of stuff are they posting?” Lu Sui said.

“Yes, I don’t interact with them much anyway. At most, I chat a few words on WeChat,” Wu Mangmang quickly stated her position, showing she absolutely wouldn’t be led astray.

Only then did Lu Sui snort coldly, indicating he’d let it go.

Two days later, when Wu Mangmang came home and didn’t see Lu Sui, she asked old Peter, “Where is the master? Didn’t he say he wasn’t going out today?”

“The master is in the gym,” old Peter said.

“Oh,” Wu Mangmang turned directly toward the gym.

The door was ajar. Wu Mangmang stood at the door and secretly peeked in, seeing Mr. Lu imitating that “dog waist” video, practicing back bends.

And he was doing it quite well. Wu Mangmang watched attentively for a while, seeing Lu Sui’s serious expression. She thought, it seems no matter how confident a man is, you can’t hurt his feelings.

Especially men approaching forty.

Lu Sui seemed to sense Wu Mangmang’s presence, stood up from the floor, and casually grabbed a towel to wipe his sweat, “What are you looking at? Does it look good?”

“It looks good. If you let me record a video to post, those women would definitely go crazy with infatuation,” Wu Mangmang said.

“Flatterer,” Lu Sui tossed at Wu Mangmang.

Wu Mangmang muttered behind him, “Tsundere.”

Prenuptial agreements had almost become a standard procedure for any marriage.

Ms. Liu had hired a lawyer for Wu Mangmang early on, preparing to secure as many benefits as possible for Wu Mangmang in case of divorce when facing the Lu family’s harsh prenuptial agreement.

Although Wu Mangmang didn’t dare think about divorce, she knew this standard step. All the relatives and friends around her had this step when they got married, so Wu Mangmang had some experience.

However, Lu Sui had never mentioned a prenuptial agreement. Wu Mangmang assumed Jiang Baoliang must be drafting it, since this Mr. Jiang had only been married to his beloved wife for a year and was in his honeymoon phase, so decreased work efficiency was understandable.

But with one week left until the auspicious date chosen by the master, Lu Sui still hadn’t mentioned a prenuptial agreement. This left Wu Mangmang somewhat puzzled but made Ms. Liu hysterical.

“He’s not planning to bring it up the day before the wedding, is he? That way we won’t have time to negotiate. Let me tell you, Wu Mangmang, if the prenuptial agreement isn’t signed properly, you’re not allowed to get the marriage certificate, or you’ll have plenty to cry about later,” Ms. Liu said.

Wu Mangmang said, “Wouldn’t it be better not to sign? If we divorce, I could get half the property.”

Hearing this, Ms. Liu looked at Wu Mangmang like she was looking at an idiot, “Hehe, then you’d have quite a divorce lawsuit on your hands. Are you sure you can outlast Lu Sui? Besides, if the final result isn’t to his liking, wouldn’t it be easy for him to make you disappear without a trace?”

Wu Mangmang was scared silly by Ms. Liu’s words.

When a couple reaches the point of divorce, there’s no telling what they might do. No matter how lovey-dovey they are now, who knows what the future holds?

So, although the bride and groom shouldn’t meet before the wedding, Wu Mangmang still hurriedly called Lu Sui.

“Missing me?” Lu Sui’s slightly amused voice came through the phone.

What could Wu Mangmang say? She could only hum in agreement.

“We’ll see each other in two days. Bear with it. The elders say it’s unlucky to meet now,” Lu Sui said.

“Since when are you so superstitious?” Wu Mangmang complained. She felt Lu Sui didn’t care about her as much as before. They hadn’t seen each other for two days, and when she suggested meeting, he actually refused.

Was it because they were about to get married, so there was no excitement or novelty anymore?

Lu Sui was exasperated by Wu Mangmang’s comment. This girl was really heartless to the extreme. He was afraid of bad luck for whose sake?

“But I want to see you. Please?” Wu Mangmang started acting cute and coquettish, her voice so sickly sweet that even she shuddered.

Lu Sui’s laughter came through the phone, “Alright, but I only have fifteen minutes of free time.”

“Thank you so much. Fifteen whole minutes? How rare,” Wu Mangmang couldn’t help being sarcastic.

“You should know that usually when I meet people, I count time in one-minute units,” Lu Sui joked.

“How precious,” Wu Mangmang said. “Then in the future when I see you, I’ll count in seconds.”

“How many seconds? Trillions of seconds?” Lu Sui laughed.

“In your dreams,” Wu Mangmang wrinkled her nose.

Lu Sui had been extremely busy lately, mainly to free up time to take Wu Mangmang on a two-month honeymoon trip. Wu Mangmang understood and offered to go to Lu Corporation.

As soon as Wu Mangmang walked into Lu Sui’s office, she was greeted by his passionate kiss. Lu Sui didn’t give her a chance to speak at all. Wu Mangmang was dizzily pushed down onto the sofa by Lu Sui, and when she got up again, even without looking at her watch, she knew Lu Sui’s so-called “fifteen minutes” was complete nonsense.

How stupid and naive must she be to believe Lu Sui had no time to see her? This person clearly had his heart set on tricking her over to devour her.

This person obviously missed her terribly and was using reverse psychology to provoke her. If he didn’t want to see her, she’d insist on it, to prove her importance to him. This habitual thinking had trapped Wu Mangmang again.

“Didn’t you miss me?” Lu Sui looked somewhat dissatisfied at Wu Mangmang, who was busy straightening her clothes.

“Missing you doesn’t mean we have to do that kind of thing, okay? I came to you for serious business,” Wu Mangmang gave Lu Sui a consoling kiss. This person was trying for round two, but she didn’t have that kind of passion—she had something on her mind.

Lu Sui raised his eyebrows, indicating for Wu Mangmang to continue.

“That…” Wu Mangmang found it hard to speak, but if she didn’t, Ms. Liu would definitely nag her to death when she got home. “When are we signing the prenuptial agreement?”

“What, you really want to sign it? Afraid I’ll take your property in the future?” Lu Sui glanced sideways at Wu Mangmang.

“Of course not.” How much property did she have anyway? “I mean, if we don’t sign, it’s not good for you.”

Lu Sui said, “Thank you for considering me like that. But I’ve never thought about divorcing my wife.”

Wu Mangmang smiled and moved forward to hug Lu Sui’s waist, “You’re so traditional. If you weren’t marrying me, would you still not sign?”

Actually, this question didn’t need to be asked. Prenuptial agreements in the Lu family almost had a set of mature terms, but when it came to Wu Mangmang, Lu Sui’s reason for strongly opposing signing a prenuptial agreement was to give her more security, to prevent this woman with an extremely rich imagination from overthinking.

Lu Sui had several friends who had ruined their relationships while signing prenuptial agreements. Lu Sui didn’t want Wu Mangmang to worry about contract matters.

So Lu Sui directly ignored Wu Mangmang’s question, “Hurry up and go. You’ve seen me, and I have a meeting later.”

Wu Mangmang was really speechless. He had time for round two but was in a hurry when talking to her?

“But I want to sign a prenuptial agreement,” Wu Mangmang said, looking down at her shoes.

She had never wanted Lu Sui’s property, but she also didn’t want Lu Sui to put Lu Corporation at risk because of her existence. If their marriage ever came to an end, she hoped he could start a new life without any burden.

Perhaps this thinking was too naive, but when deeply in love, one always wants to make every consideration for the other person. Lu Sui’s unwillingness to sign a prenuptial agreement with her must also be out of this psychology.

“Say that again?” Lu Sui’s voice turned cold. This woman couldn’t possibly be hoping for a day when she could divorce him, could she?

Wu Mangmang shivered with cold fear and immediately backed down, “I didn’t say anything. I won’t delay you anymore. I’ll leave first.” Wu Mangmang stood on her tiptoes and loudly kissed Lu Sui’s cheek, trying to gloss over the matter.

Lu Sui snorted coldly, “Make yourself clear first. Are you planning to divorce me someday and go back to your old lover?”

My god, Wu Mangmang didn’t expect Lu Sui to think of that, “Of course not! Hey, this is… this is me thinking of you. Who knows what will happen in the future? I just hope you won’t have any concerns later.”

Lu Sui knew Wu Mangmang definitely wasn’t telling the truth, “Thank you for your concern. I won’t have any concerns in the future. The moment I made my decision, I didn’t give myself a chance to regret it. So you don’t need to think about it either. Once married, divorce is absolutely impossible.”

Now Wu Mangmang was going to shiver again. She timidly said, “So you’d rather be a widower than divorce?”

Lu Sui looked at Wu Mangmang and squinted, “Get out.”

Lu Sui was really angry. Wu Mangmang wanted to coax him, but Mr. Lu had quite a temper, “Get out, or I’ll have Peng Ze bring people to escort you out.”

Wu Mangmang stamped her feet and could only leave. She knew her words had been too hurtful, and Lu Sui certainly wouldn’t hurt her now, but…

But what if he met someone better in the future?

The groom maintained his aloofness until the wedding day, so much so that when Wu Mangmang was dug up early in the morning by Ms. Liu to start getting her makeup done, she boldly called Lu Sui first, “Um, are we still getting married?”

Lu Sui gave Wu Mangmang one sentence, “What do you think?”

Wu Mangmang didn’t speak.

“Give up that thought. You can neither think about marrying someone else nor about divorce,” Lu Sui said.

“So little human rights?” Wu Mangmang’s mouth, which had been pressed straight for two days, finally turned up.

After hanging up, Wu Mangmang turned to Ms. Liu, “He says he won’t divorce. I believe him.”

Liu Lewei looked at the radiant Wu Mangmang. She was already in her twenties but still so naive. But everyone had been naive once—it just depended on whether she was lucky enough to stay naive forever.

(4)

Since getting married, Wu Mangmang had felt her status declining, with most of her time monopolized by Lu Sui.

For example, this day, Wu Mangmang was directly dragged by Lu Sui to Lu Corporation again.

Sitting in Lu Sui’s office, Wu Mangmang couldn’t help frowning, “You have serious work to do. What am I doing here?”

“You should learn something. I don’t expect to teach you everything about Lu Corporation, but you need to know the basics,” Lu Sui said. “Follow me for a while, and I can teach you some management experience.”

Wu Mangmang looked at Lu Sui with confusion, “But why do I need to learn these things?” She didn’t want to be a business elite.

“You don’t need them now, but what if someday I’m not here?” Lu Sui said.

Wise people always plan ahead. Life has too many accidents, and Lu Sui couldn’t guarantee he’d live to a hundred.

If something really happened, Lu Sui didn’t expect Wu Mangmang to shoulder Lu Corporation, but at least he wanted to ensure she wouldn’t be easily deceived by others. He wanted to make sure that even after he was gone, Wu Mangmang could live well.

Wu Mangmang understood Lu Sui’s meaning, but for her, this problem had never been a problem, so she said carelessly, “If you’re not here, there’s no point in me living either, so you don’t need to worry about it.”

Lu Sui was speechless with Wu Mangmang. He just stared at her steadily. Although in this era, living and dying together had become an absurd legend that people scoffed at, when Wu Mangmang said it so easily, Lu Sui easily believed it.

“What can I say to you?” Lu Sui helplessly pulled Wu Mangmang over. He looked down into Wu Mangmang’s eyes, clear as the purest spring water.

Because of their purity, they were particularly easy to destroy.

Lu Sui sighed softly and lowered his head to kiss Wu Mangmang’s lips. He could only pray that he’d live long enough to give Wu Mangmang lasting happiness without any hardship.

Sweet kisses always easily led in other directions. After Lu Sui kissed Wu Mangmang until she was dizzy, he gently released her. That confused and unsatisfied innocent look in her eyes nearly made Lu Sui lose control, but he had a meeting later and really couldn’t indulge.

At this moment, Lu Sui thought it might be better not to keep Wu Mangmang by his side for teaching, or his work efficiency would be greatly reduced.

Men’s and women’s thinking are never on the same wavelength. What Wu Mangmang was thinking at this moment was, “From what you just said, if I died now, would you turn around and find another woman to marry and have children with?”

Lu Sui didn’t speak. This question seemed to have no other answer.

Wu Mangmang had never thought that if she weren’t there someday, someone as strong as Lu Sui would make the same choice as her. That kind of person wouldn’t be the Lu Sui she loved.

But after all, she was a woman, and she still felt a bit uncomfortable. Wu Mangmang rested her head on Lu Sui’s shoulder and asked softly, “Have you ever thought about such a day?” Wu Mangmang nuzzled gently against Lu Sui’s neck.

Lu Sui didn’t answer. Honestly, he had never thought about it and never dared to think about it. In his planning ahead, there was only what to do for Wu Mangmang if he wasn’t there, but never what he would do if Wu Mangmang wasn’t there someday.

The day after this nutritionless hypothetical conversation, Wu Mangmang gained another personal female bodyguard. It seemed Mr. Lu’s sense of security was also quite poor—he wished he could lock Wu Mangmang in a safe and treasure her forever.
