“She knows โ I still cannot leave this tomb. What I can do for now is only this much.” Cold and merciless words came from within the great tomb.
In the sky, stars glittered. Countless great stars shed vast silver cascades of light, pouring down to water this ancient gravestone, nourishing everything here.
This spectacle caused one’s hair to stand on end. The revival of a peerless divine general required such an enormous force โ the entire star domain was rapidly dimming. Many stars had grown permanently cold and extinguished!
The envoy was of high standing, yet here he dared not even breathe loudly. Facing this peerless war general who had once followed the Immortal Heaven Emperor, his very soul was trembling.
This was someone who had killed at the drop of a hat, who in the old days had helped create the Heaven Emperor’s great age, and whose hands were stained with the blood of near-Emperors. He had a feeling โ the divine-ascended beings, the former Eight Divine Generals, did not truly revere the Immortal Heaven Empress from the bottom of their hearts.
“The Heaven Empress is aware of your condition and has sent me with a rare immortal treasure as a gift โ obtained by chance. It should be of great use to you!” The Phoenix Nest envoy dared not delay and revealed the hidden reason.
“Is that so? There is still something of use to me?” The divine general asked in an indifferent tone. His appearance was quite young. He sat cross-legged within the tomb, cold as though completely devoid of emotion.
“Yes โ it is an immortal elixir!” The envoy said hastily, then presented a stone box with both hands. A hazy gentle radiance flowed from it. He held it there respectfully.
With a soft sound, the stone box vanished. It sank into the subterranean tomb and appeared between the Sun-and-Moon Divine General’s fingers. He opened it directly. A pure fragrance instantly surged forth, causing the grass and trees of the surrounding area to flourish in response.
Its aura of life was overwhelmingly powerful, possessing effects that defied heaven!
The divine general’s cold eyes instantly erupted with two terrifying beams of light. Deeply moved, he revealed an expression of shock for the first time and said: “To think it is… a Nine-Revolution Immortal Elixir!?”
A legendary immortal elixir โ how many times in the mortal world does one get to see such a thing? It required undying divine medicine as its primary ingredient, refined through ten thousand processes, and in the end it defied heaven to become an elixir, its effects beyond prediction.
This object was called the foremost elixir since ancient times. It could defy heaven and alter fate. It was said that with such a thing, one could not die even wishing to โ it was said to allow even a great emperor to live an additional lifetime.
“This is only the dregs of the immortal elixir โ approximately one-tenth of a pill โ but I think healing your injuries, great one, should be no problem.” The envoy said respectfully.
“That is sufficient. Even if it cannot achieve a full recovery, it will be close.” The Sun-and-Moon Divine General’s eyes flashed with blazing light โ startling in its intensity. In the sky, all manner of stars shone, growing all the more terrifying.
After being nourished by immortal light, he had stabilized his Dao injuries, pulling him back from the pile of corpses. Now this precious medicine should be able to take effect.
The immortal elixir could absolutely bring life from death and restore white bone to flesh, and healing his injuries presented no problem. The only regret was that this was an elixir from before the Ancient Era โ its essence had dispersed over time and it no longer carried the same medicinal potency.
“What person has the Heaven Empress encountered that requires my assistance?” After receiving the Nine-Revolution Immortal Elixir, the Sun-and-Moon Divine General’s expression softened somewhat. He sat within the tomb and inquired about the reason.
“It is not yet known. The Heaven Empress failed to pursue the Immortal Heaven Blade, but encountered a great enemy.”
“Where?”
“Beyond the Nine Emperor Passes!” The messenger informed him gravely.
The Immortal Heaven Empress sought to reign supreme and rule all under heaven. She would inevitably have to tread upon that land โ but unexpectedly, it had become the site of a decisive battle, drawing out a world-shaking adversary.
“In this world, there is still such a powerful figure. Truly something to look forward to. You may return first.” The divine general returned to his icy demeanor.
The envoy felt as though he had been granted a pardon. He did not wish to remain a moment longer. He turned and left. Facing a divine-ascended being, his entire body convulsed, and the urge to kneel and prostrate himself was overwhelming.
Only after the envoy had gone far away did the young man seated cross-legged within the tomb spit out a mouthful of blood. His body swayed momentarily โ but his eyes remained sharp as a blade’s edge, without the slightest concern.
“A problem arose in Dao comprehension. The terrible consequences truly are an unbearable weight.” The chaotic immortal light within the tomb flowed and surged, submerging him. There was no further sound.
On the ancient battlefield, Ye Fan and the Old Man Demon successfully killed the Sun-and-Moon dual thought-body divine generals, overawing a large group of people. Two near-Emperors slain โ this was an earth-shaking event.
It also made the battlefield ever more tense. Competition here was fierce. Everything was decided by cultivation and strength. Without sufficient realm, nothing was of any value.
From this day forth, dark clouds of war loomed over the battlefield. War drums could explode at any moment like thunderclaps. A calm before the tempest left everyone on the verge of suffocation.
Boom!
Someone had become a near-Emperor again. This time very discreetly โ from the deepest part of the starry sky, away from the battlefield. This person was very cautious.
By the time people rushed over, it was all over. But people could still pick up traces from the clues left behind. Two days later, news came โ this was the Child of the Forbidden Zone.
A terrifying young individual suspected to have come from the Sea of Reincarnation had officially stepped into the near-Emperor realm!
For Ye Fan and his companions, this was not good news. Another enemy had arrived โ one whose parents had engaged in bloody battle with their own parents three hundred years ago, and who would now contend against them directly.
Bang!
Heaven and earth shook. Stars trembled in chaos. Someone was at war โ the decisive battle had finally drawn its curtain open, and a blood-soaked fight to the death had begun.
On this day, news came: Huo Qizi, who had disappeared for several hundred years and gone far out to the desolate reaches of the cosmos, appeared. He had fought in a decisive battle against the Imperial Son Dao Yi on the ancient battlefield โ a clash that made the sun and moon darken, and the stars dim, in a great devastation.
The news was a great sensation. Many people rushed to watch, only to find they had missed it entirely. The two had torn open space and leapt out of this place, continuing the battle elsewhere.
When people chased after them, they found only blood and remnants โ neither of the two was in sight. This was a one-on-one duel to the death. Perhaps it would last a long time โ or perhaps it would end in an instant.
Not until five days later did definitive news arrive.
In their first clash, neither had gained an advantage. Both were left bleeding across the cosmos, and each withdrew.
Ye Fan and his companions had been here for many days now, yet they had found no trace of the Holy Emperor’s Son’s whereabouts. They did not know whether he was dead or alive, though in their hearts they reckoned the Monkey should be fine.
“Good โ the altar is now complete. We can return to the Heavenly Court at any time. We’ve built one there as well. When the time comes, we can pass messages back and forth.”
Before a small five-colored altar, the Black Emperor repeatedly praised its own craftsmanship, in a manner reminiscent of a peddler boasting about its own wares. The others all looked at it with contempt.
“Come on, you little squash โ you go up first and head back to the Heavenly Court to check on things. Don’t let someone raid our base.” The Black Emperor told Hua Hua to step forward.
Hua Hua vigorously rubbed its bald head. It would rather die than be a test subject. What a joke โ the whole cosmos knew how unreliable the big black dog was. In this area, the number of people who had gone missing because of it had been no small number. Most spectacularly of all, it had even managed to lose itself!
“You little brat, what do you mean by that? You don’t trust me?” The Black Emperor darkened its large black face and spoke.
“No, I trust you. I trust you deeply โ this is out of respect for you. Please, Senior Martial Uncle Black, step onto the platform first. Seniority must be observed. Etiquette must not be abandoned!” Hua Hua said righteously and earnestly, with the utmost sincerity.
The Black Emperor fixed it with its large copper-bell eyes, then nodded and said, “Very well!”
Bang!
As it drew close to the small altar, the Black Emperor suddenly sent one paw slamming against the bald-headed Hua Hua, knocking it onto the altar. A scream followed: “Senior Martial Uncle, you can’t treat people like this!”
Hua Hua was no pushover either. In an instant it activated the Soldier Character Technique, trying to bind the big black dog and swap places with it, dragging it in.
But ginger grows spicier with age. The Black Emperor was one step ahead โ it had already risen up on two legs and activated the Scroll Character Secret Art, vanishing ten thousand zhang away in an instant, causing the Soldier Character technique to miss entirely.
“Youngster, you dare try to scheme against me โ don’t you know who raised you?” The Black Emperor had already activated the formation patterns. Within a burst of brilliant radiance, a Taiji Eight Trigrams gate opened.
Hua Hua screamed as it plunged in. Before disappearing, it wore a look of tragic heroism and cried out: “Master, if I get lost, you must come find me! I don’t want to spend a hundred years in loneliness in some corner of the boundless cosmos.”
“Am I really that unreliable? How dare you distrust my skill in formation patterns.”
“Your unreliability โ the people of the whole Earth know about it.” Pang Bo, a former victim of old, stepped forward at the right moment to testify. Back in the day, he had been flung directly from the Eastern Wastelands into the Central Prefecture, nearly missing and landing on the moon.
“Sigh โ Hua Hua is destined to disappear. Right now it should be waving farewell to us from a billion light years away โ parting in tears.” Dongfang Ye said.
“Truly pitiful.” Ji Chengdao deeply sympathized, nodding earnestly.
“I’m about to lose my temper! Am I really this hopeless?!” The Black Emperor seethed.
Bang!
It was ambushed. A group of people joined forces and flung it up, then immediately activated the formation patterns, causing it to scream: “Damn it โ if I get lost, remember to come find me!”
Everyone was petrified. Truly unreliable!
Its own altar, and yet it said such a thing, thought such a thing โ how could anyone feel reassured?
Good grief!
The whole group showed their contempt. This dog’s unreliability had truly reached a whole new level. It was howling with dread itself โ just how terrible was the altar it had built? Who would dare use it?
“Hua Hua is so pitiful.” Ji Chengdao offered another silent prayer on its behalf.
Boom!
The sky collapsed. A massive black hand pressed down from above, covering an entire star domain. It was enormous โ awe-inspiring.
A phoenix cry rang out, soaring into the heavens. A blood-colored divine phoenix spread its wings and struck at the sky, rushing to meet the black hand, launching a world-shaking confrontation.
“Who is fighting against the Phoenix Void Dao?”
A near-Emperor level great battle erupted without warning.
On the battlefield formed from the remains of the Heavenly Venerate, the clouds of war were thick. The contest for the Emperor Path had drawn its curtain โ this place had become a land of boiling intensity.
The massive black hand covered the sky and blotted out the sun. Ominous winds howled and ghostly shadows surged, as though the Nine Dark Underworld had appeared in the mortal world, intent on turning the entire world into a ghost prison.
“It is the people of the Underworld โ they have gone to war with the Phoenix Void Dao.”
Clang!
A massive jet-black halberd sliced through the sky, splitting the earth, hacking down toward Ye Fan above the Black Pearl โ the near-Emperor might was staggering.
The Spirit of the Divine Tomb had appeared again, this time even more forceful, seeking out Ye Fan. It had long since made clear: to the death, with no end until one or the other fell โ only one person could leave the battlefield alive.
“Slaughter that bastard! Back when Ye Fan got married, he was already arrogantly causing trouble. And he still dares to come now!” Li Tian said.
Rumble!
An even more terrifying spectacle appeared between heaven and earth. Golden divine pagodas, golden great bells, brilliant divine swords… endless weapons flew and danced. This was a brilliant golden world.
A supreme secret art โ the Golden Divine Treasury โ was being unfolded!
The Golden Heavenly Lady had come, striking out with hatred, intent on killing Ye Fan and his companions.
Crash!
The Ten Thousand Dragon Bell trembled, transforming into a great purple dragon diving downward, also charging toward the Black Pearl. The situation was critical.
Ye Fan grasped the Chaos Azure Lotus and soared into the sky to meet the great enemy.
What had begun as a single attacker had startled all four directions and drawn two more who unhesitatingly launched their own killing strikes.
The great battle came so suddenly. None had come, and then three came at once โ and each backed by Imperial Path weapons. It was enough to shatter people’s hearts.
Without doubt, if this continued, it would be a brutal and bitter blood battle!
“If all of them are killed in this battle, the entire battlefield will be cleansed. No one will dare come anymore!” Pang Bo said.
Everyone deeply agreed. An awe-inspiring reputation is built through battle. If three great Ancient Emperor’s Sons were slain in a single day, it was believed that no one would dare provoke their might again.
Yet this battlefield changed in an instant. There were too many unpredictable elements. Would such a battle truly come to pass?
