Synopsis:
After their mother’s death, the three Ye sisters are forced to live in a secluded courtyard, relying only on one another as they endure their father’s favoritism and the persecution of their stepmother.
Four years ago, Ye Qinglan attended the Huaxin Banquet. Graceful, reserved, and strikingly beautiful, she was the very model of a noble young lady in the capital. At the banquet, she secretly became engaged to Cui Jingyu, a scion of a declining aristocratic family, and the two were deeply in love. Yet before the great border war, Qinglan heartlessly broke off the engagement. Four years later, Cui Jingyu returns to the capital victorious, basking in glory, honored with titles for his achievements, and becomes the most sought-after man among noble ladies at the Huaxin Banquet. Qinglan, however, remains unmarried and is regarded in the capital as a woman no one would wed.
No outsider knows what truly happened four years ago. What lies between them is the heavy weight of those lost years. When former lovers meet again, a long-buried story resurfaces—can they ever return to the days of Tonghua Ferry?
She once refused to wed the east wind, only to be misunderstood by the west wind for no reason at all.
The second daughter, Ye Lingbo, plain in appearance yet fiercely determined, long ago abandoned the pursuit of romance. Convinced that her elder sister sacrificed her happiness for the family, she is resolved to rekindle the bond between Qinglan and Cui Jingyu. To do so, she spares no effort—spending lavishly and recruiting talent. Yet at the Huaxin Banquet, twenty-four gatherings unfold amid a hall filled with young elites of the Zhenbei Army and noble heirs. As the twenty-four floral winds pass, even peach and apricot blossoms seem ready to marry the east wind. How, then, will her own story end?
The Huaxin Banquet is more dazzling than ever, with numerous young commanders from the Zhenbei Army in attendance and forces from all sides entering the fray—truly a spectacle seen only once in a decade. Shen Biwei, a noble lady of a prestigious family; A-Cuo, an orphan taken in by the Ye sisters; the naïve Yanyan; and Han Yueqi, Qinglan’s married friend—all are swept into this grand affair, each with her own fate.
Three sisters of one family, each taking turns to weave the red thread of destiny. This is a bittersweet tale of love, but also a story of how the Ye sisters, surrounded by danger after their mother’s death, protect one another and face an adventure together during the spring Huaxin Banquet. It is not only a story of broken mirrors made whole again, but also a portrait of familial bonds—of sisters supporting each other and finding warmth together—set against a backdrop of romance, rivalry, and the entanglements of love and hatred among gifted men and beautiful women. When all is settled amid blooming flowers, their youth will not have been in vain.
